Nomad Boba — Restaurant in Tempe

It's about time I visited my neighbors here (I'm two blocks away) and tried out their authentic offerings. I confess: my mind was blown and taste buds excited by what I encountered in the late morning with Quang at the counter!

This is a tiny shop, with only 3-4 small tables, but they said that we're free to find the patio seating, or hang out next door in Aruma, which is very spacious. We're in the Sonoran Desert, so 99% of the weather is conducive to hanging out in the shade or A/C. The décor is lovely, with butterfly/dragonfly themes, ivy climbing everywhere; a "JOY TO THE WORLD" wreath lent a holiday touch.

The menu is expansive and detailed! If you're familiar with boba shops, they can grant every wish and hand-craft your drinks. I still need to find my perfect favs, but I selected a hot tea, as Quang recommended the "Lemongrass Peach Citrus Fusion" with oolong (jasmine also available!) It was marvelous: absolutely rich in layered flavors, a mild sour-sweet tang, without an excess of sugar. Lid off, ready to drink within minutes, but still piping hot in the paper cup (16oz, I believe).

Also remarkable in taste was my Special Combination Vietnamese sandwich. This includes generous slabs of savory pork, cucumber, carrot shreds, cilantro, garlic mayo, and other veg, served on a crisp, fresh baguette-style bun. I invariably depend on substantial food entrées when I sip at a café, and these sandwiches are the perfect size and taste to complement everything else they serve at Nomad Boba.

Of course, their specialty here is sweet teas and milk teas, with wonderful, chewy boba beads which you pull up from bottom of cup. I'll be exploring these offerings in the future: stay tuned for updates!

I was craving some Vietnamese coffee and didn't wanna drive too far out for it and noticed that this spot recently opened up right by my workplace, so I wanted to give them the shot. When I walked in, I was kindly greeted by the owner and he walked me through the menu as I was ordering. I ended up ordering their Egg Coffee Boba and their Lavender Lychee Lush (as a Refreshing Ade with lychee jelly and lychee popping boba). I was very pleased with the two drinks I've received. The egg coffee requires a bit of stirring to get things going, and I wish I went without boba so that I could enjoy sipping this through the lid. The slightly bitter coffee pairs very well with the sweet egg that I thought these were a match in heaven. The sweetness complements it very well that I would make no changes to the drink at all. It has the right amount of kick to get me through the day. As for the Lavender Lychee Lush refreshing ade, as someone with a sweet tooth, it's the right amount of sweetness for me, though may be a bit much for others. Being able to appreciate the floral notes in the form of a soda make it refreshing for a sunny day walk like the one I had today. This is the best location I have ever experienced!!!! I moved here from Texas two days ago and I wanted to try something that wasn’t just Starbucks, something that was newer to me then compared to what I had in Texas. It was not just a boba experience. The food was absolutely delicious, the coffee was absolutely phenomenal, and I can be very picky upon my coffee! Everything is made with love and passion and dedication, it’s not just a quick throw together. You can tell the owner, put his time and dedication into this because this is absolutely fantastic on so many different levels. Service was 10/10!!!
