My amazingly beautiful Italian wife and I had a most wonderful experience at The Dhaba Restaurant last evening.
We were met by a most engaging young man that made our dining experience extremely enjoyable. He was truly a professional and had a firm grasp on the concept of customer service and experience. Our belief is that if you just want to have dinner then stay home and have it…however if you want to have a dining experience the The Dhaba is absolutely the perfect choice of a place to do it.
When given a menu you might feel a bit intimidated but persevere… we found several interesting choices and my wife decided on a chicken shawarma and she chose a mild heat level. It came to the table perfectly seasoned and was the best that she had ever experienced. As for myself, I was interested in one of the several lamb offerings that they were offering. I asked the gentleman for a suggestion and without missing a beat he made his recommendation and assured me that I would love it. I took his advice and opted for their medium heat level. The dish was amazingly delicious and I have had better at no other restaurant in the entire valley. When you order your dinner be absolutely sure not to bypass the Garlic Nan Bread as it’s truly scrumptious and makes a fine acompliment to any dish on the menu.
When you choose a dish, be prepared to have it again for lunch the next day. The servings are very generous and if you go home hungry then I would have to say that it’s probably your own fault…lol
We were not drinking for the evening but we found the wine list to be very complete however it was the list of beers that really peaked our attention. We could not help but overhear a conversation that 2 gentleman at the table behind us were having with our server regarding the beer offerings. Our server not only knew about the beers in question but he also knew each one’s pedigree and and ingredients. My wife and I were very impressed to say the least.
Our plan is to return for lunch sometime soon because not only is the restaurant open but so is the Indian Market right next door that they own…we’re pretty sure that we will be able to find a little treasure or two there.
When you choose to go to The Dhaba for dinner, might I suggest that you make reservations in advance, you will be glad that you...
Read moreEdit: came back today given we previously had a good experience and gave 5 stars. Seems like every time we come back there's a new sign on the door asking the customer to give them extra leeway for more and more things (rising prices, staffing shortages etc). The past few visits we were asked if we had a res and never did but usually were seated quickly. Decided to make a res this time and arrived about 10 mins early. Owner says he can't seat us because we're "too early." There were only 2 tables occupied and the place was empty at the 6 o'clock hour on a Friday. Then while he made us stand and wait my wife decided to grab a menu to show to my mom who'd never been there and he told my wife she can't look at the menu? Sorry, you have signs saying you're short staffed so we were doing you a favor of not making you break away from taking another table's order just to hand us a menu and instead we grabbed one ourselves. The manner and body language of the owner was really rude, as if we were interrupting him and didn't belong there as customers. Decided to just leave at this point and went to a nearby restaurant which had us seated immediately and had our food out in 15 mins, no signs on the door asking us to give them exceptions for anything. We've previously had nothing but good service from the owner but this time he appeared visibly stressed... Must have been a bad day but with how our whole experience went it would be way too awkward to ever go back here again, especially with the huge number of other options available.
Initial review: We had a good experience. It got busy very quickly and the place looks popular. The dishes were not too spicy yet still had a lot of flavor. Might be a bit greasy for us but they can't possibly please everyone. As others mentioned, the service was slower but that is to be expected from a mom& pop establishment. The person helping us seemed like the owner/manager and was very polite and genuinely friendly. The other staff are there to bus tables and deliver food but there was only one person taking orders, likely why it takes a bit longer but at least it gets done correctly. Would rather have slower but careful, polite and correct than speedy, errors and rude like many other restaurants these days. Will come back again.

Read moreI recently dined at The Dhaba in Tempe, Arizona, and I must say, it was an exceptional culinary experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the inviting ambiance that combined modern elegance with traditional Indian charm. The warm color palette, intricate decor, and soft lighting created a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the delectable Indian spicy food. The menu boasted a variety of dishes that catered to different tastes, and I was pleased to find a plethora of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The flavors were rich, vibrant, and perfectly balanced, capturing the essence of Indian cuisine while delivering a satisfying spicy kick. Each dish seemed to tell a story of culinary expertise and passion.
One standout dish was the Chicken Vindaloo, a tantalizing blend of tender chicken pieces marinated in a fiery mix of spices and served with fragrant basmati rice. The heat level was adjustable to suit individual preferences, and even for someone who appreciates a good spice, the Vindaloo provided an exciting challenge that left me craving more.
What truly set The Dhaba apart, however, was the dedication of their hardworking staff. The servers were not only knowledgeable about the menu but also genuinely passionate about the food they served. Their recommendations were spot-on, and their willingness to accommodate dietary preferences was commendable. Their attentive and friendly demeanor added to the overall dining experience, making me feel like a valued guest.
From start to finish, The Dhaba proved to be a haven for lovers of Indian cuisine. The harmonious blend of enticing flavors, cozy ambiance, and devoted staff left me with memories of a truly exceptional dining experience. Whether you're seeking a culinary adventure or simply craving a taste of authentic Indian flavors, The Dhaba in Tempe is undoubtedly a restaurant that delivers on its promise of exceptional spicy food and...
