Today I ordered three large pizza's from Geno's, as a pick-up order. When I arrive at the location, I was immediately greeted by a rude delivery driver who assume I had intentions to block him from reversing from his parking spot. The delivery driver's disposition was the first thing I noticed; he held the customer's pizza loosely, with one hand, and did not seem to care of the food were to become disorganized in the box. When the driver learned that I did not have plans to block his path, he arrogantly continued his original goal of delivering the pizza.
Upon walking into the restaurant and greeting the front-register clerk, I was immediately struck by her combative tone, vibe, and attitude. I've been serve by this woman multiple times as I've just moved from the area; this was not my first or second encounter with this worker. The transaction process was smooth and quick. When I received the pizza, it was lukewarm with little to no butter-garlic crust that I'd requested prior to my arrival. I pointed this possible error out while adding the possibility that I did not understand something- as politely as possible. The front-register employee immediately became argumentative and retorted that I should request "extra-garlic" next time. Soon after, a woman in a black apron came to the front, intervening into what already was a terrible customer service experience and offered to add butter-garlic flavoring to the crust. Relieved, I agreed and was satisfied that the problem would be resolved. Meanwhile, I heard what seemed lie condescending laughter from the cooks in the kitchen area of the establishment and became slightly uneasy. After the very negative experience, the woman with the black apron returned with the pizzas and kindly offered two additional garlic sauces for my trouble, which I perceived as a very kind gesture. Feeling somewhat reassured I left the restaurant after receiving and explanation that too much garlic-sauce can make the pizza's crust soggy.
Approx 12 minutes later, I arrived home with the pizza that would be consumed by my household. Upon opening the pizza, what I thought was a kind gesture from an employee turned out to be an extremely insulting gesture of poor customer service and poor character, the crust and outer edges of the dough in which the pizza sauce lay was covered in an immense amount of garlic-sauce. The sauce was over-powering to the point that the pizza had no taste. 5 memebers of my household were completely shocked- we've done business with Geno's for the past year and though we've experienced bad days with employees, they've always managed to deliver great food and customer service. Unfortunately, I am sure I am not the only customer that has been affected by the staff and their vengeful attitudes at this establishment. Unfortunately, there may be no support system that will hold these employees accountable for their actions. To the leadership, of you are reading this, you have lost 6 regular customers at this location. Should there be any negative ramifications of consuming this product, we are unified in pursuing legal assistance for the damages that will be their byproduct. If there are no damages, I truly hope you invest in your workers enough to correct them- this was quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had with a restaurant in Tempe. Best wishes to your business and...
Read moreOn 6/2/17 I placed an order with Postmates for a Geno's Philly cheesesteak and an order of boneless wings. I received my order with a receipt stapled to the bag (which stapled the bad shut) and the receipt had my exact order on it correctly, however when I opened the bag my order was incorrect. Inside the bag was an order of wings but a turkey sandwich instead of a Philly cheesesteak. Since I already paid Postmates for a delivery fee and the receipt showed the correct order, I contact Geno's directly and spoke with a Maggie. When I explained my order and what happened, Maggie said to me "So that's what happened to our turkey sandwich, we've been looking for that" and she was sorry for any inconvenience and added a $15 credit to my order (because if she sent someone back out they would charge a delivery fee and I was already charged one).
Maggie assured me "just call in and give us your number and the credit will show up". Well today 6/3/17 I called in a order and the person who answered the phone said she saw the credit but wasn't sure how to apply it so she would speak with a manager to explain how to add it correctly. I was told my food would arrive anywhere from 45 mins to 1 hour from the time I called. So after an hour and 10 mins and no phone calls, I decided to contact the store and see the status of my order. I was then told "we are unable to give you that credit as that person was not supposed to offer that to you to begin with". I asked "why didn't anyone call me to explain this instead of having me wait an hour+ wasting my lunch break" and the lady said "we called and it said the number was disconnect". I explained to her I was on the phone my entire lunch break and received no phone calls at all. I asked to speak to a supervisor or a manager on duty and was told "there will be no one here until after 5:00pm" (but this person just told me she would speak with a manger to figure out how to enter the credit when I placed the order an hour ago). I was then transferred to a COOK who was the most senior person working and he stated "he could not give me the credit and wait till after 5:00pm to speak to a manager.
This is unacceptable and not excellent customer service at all. Not only did I pay a delivery fee yesterday for he wrong order, I was also told I would have to pay a delivery fee today as well. I didn't even eat a drop of their food (we all know when you crave something and do not get it, you no longer have a taste for it or no taste for the incorrect food given to you). This would have been my first time having this place but instead I'm writing a bad review (and would give them 0 stars if I could).
Get it together Geno's, sincerely a very unsatisfied customer who has now spent his hard earned money on food I haven't eaten yet and was willing to spend more money to get my corrected...
Read moreHello peeps! Friendly neighbor guy here, with "my take on the place"...ok so, I'd never heard of this place until recently, when I went to go drop my son at a friend's in Mesa. On the way home I asked my other son where he's like to eat. The Gino's sign caught my eye and reminded me of the original"Gino's East" pizza place that was on Indian school road. So we decided to try it out. It was Sunday around noon. We go in with a couple other patrons ahead of us. The place was plain and run by what seemed like young family members or just young people. We looked over the menu which also had pictures of their products. To be honest I was gonna suggest we leave, because nothing really looked appealing. And I was starving! I wanted something hearty and succulent. But my son insisted we try it and ordered a toasted pesto chicken sub , which I decided to get the same. This place offers various subs and pizza ,wings etc. I was gonna get a "footlong pizza slice" that was on the menu but the kid behind the register told me they "don't serve pizza slices on the weekends?!..." So I was stuck with my order. I figured I'd give it a shot anyway. We sat ourselves with bottles of cokes and waited. Within minutes food was brought out to the other patrons and they begin to eat. As we waited I scanned the place jus killing time. I noticed the other people's food and how "plain" it looked. Still I wondered if it would be good ( our food). So then the kids brings our food in take out cartons and we dig in...the initial impression of their food was just that "plain" a toasted sandwich sub with dry pre cooked chicken cubes lettuce, garlicky pesto. Nothing succulent or hearty. Not even fries or a side of something. We ate half of our subs and by the look on my sons face he wasn't impressed either. So we up and left. Now I'm sure this place does just fine it just wasn't what I was expecting. My take on this place is "meh"...if you like plain food , then have at it. I'm still not impressed. That's MY take on the place..you have your opinion I have mine. God...
