I want to start off by saying that the Philly’s in Ahwatukee is absolutely amazing and I love going there. Please give that store your business if you are reading this! Also the server I had was great.
Last Sunday, the Oklahoma City thunder played in game seven against the Indiana Pacers. I came to the bar with my friends To enjoy the game. Everything started off normal, There was a guy who was cheering for the Pacers, who had some friendly banter for me. The bar even had the game on the main audio. I came to the restaurant wearing an Oklahoma City jersey. I am a huge fan. As we get closer to the end of the game, someone in the bar comes and tells me to be quiet. Not only have I’ve been cheering the whole game, but my team was on a run. I told her to please leave me alone and that I would leave when the game ended. No less than two minutes later the manager comes out and tells me that I’m being too loud. I explained that I was cheering for my team and I had been doing so the whole game. The only person who had a problem was the one lady. The manager said I was “annoying” other people. I said “I don’t care.” He proceeded to cuss me and my friends out and told us that we needed to leave. I told him to bring me my tab and that I would leave immediately after. He threatened to call the police even though I said I would leave after he gave me the bill. He even tried to take my beer from me to show me the power he had. He gave me my check, I tipped my regular 25% and left.
As a black man from Arizona I hate using the race card because I don’t believe in being a victim. I love a great live and have amazing people in my life. This was a clear example of racism that Scottsdale is known for. If that one lady (white) didn’t report me then we wouldn’t have problems. The gentleman cheering for the other team even told me that it was “bullshit” that I was put out when her was being equally as loud. I do not remember the manager’s name but he told me to never come back. I will make sure to respect the wishes of the business but I thought I should warn others before they spend money at a place that treats people like this. Again Philly’s has been great to me but this experience forever changes the way I view...
Read moreHave been coming to Phillys bars for years. Especially this one on Scottsdale road. Im posting today particularly because it was fight night and they hold all UFC and Boxing Matches. Reasonable cover like most places in the valley $5. Our group was lucky because one person in our party went early to get a table. It was UFC and Boxing last night. The five stars totally goes to our waitress, sorry mama I forgot your name but if you were working the front patio wearing glasses you rocked the floor and to the Managers shes a keeper. It was wall to wall people and she did great. She was direct about wait times and utilized her customer service skills to make sure that we knew it was busy but be patient and she be right on and she was. She actually was very attentive as our table grew from one, to four, to five then six total trickling in. She caught each one of us quickly and got our orders and the drinks were never long to follow. Food actually did not take as long as expected but did have a snag with one order of fries. No big deal and in the end she even had that persons order taken care of. Thats customer service, fight night or not she still did not make any excuse for service. Acts like that make me want to come back and spend my money as a repeat customer forsure. Its a dog friendly patio and even on a large event night like that you saw dogs their. Loved it. They couldn't help this but it was a bit of a challenge to find chairs but to be expected going anywhere on event nights at places like these. Maybe an idea is to have a extra handful if you have the storage space if you host these events on the regular. TV Placement was good to being that we were on the patio still had enough at any angle you were going to see one. Thanks Phillys for a hosting an other great sporting event out in Scottsdale. Very Chill relax vibes all around not a place to find the...
Read moreI am impressed. Thankful as well. Strapped for cash as well as on foot and lodging at Motel 6 I Google close good cheap dinner fare. Philly's pops up. I once over h the online menu expecting a challenge to find dinner for the 10$ I had available. I locate a 12" 1 topping calzone for the low price of 8.00 + 1.00 per additional topping. I quickly call in my order for carryout. The gentleman who took my order proceeds to give me a $13.85 price to pick up. I tell him of the prices his establishment is advertising online at the Philly's website. He in turn explains the changes the calzone has gone thru as it has grown to a fabulous 14". Then upon my confession of financial woes as to only having a hard earned 10$ accessible to me. The man said this time he'll do it!! I wish I'd gotten your name sir...I hope you are the dedicated hands on owner. I myself have cooked in over probably a dozen different reastarunts, pubs, cooperate chain style, delis, to ma and pa's heart to table establishment's have to say I'm impressed and thankful as well as full from the delicious 14" calzone w fresh cheeses and with deliciously plump chunks of sweet Italian sausage accompanied with a awesome marianara dipping sauce.
