Where to begin with this awful hotel.
First of all, the area is very sketchy. Someone had told us Tempe was wonderful and I wish I had not listened to them nor stayed here.
The staff are some of the rudest people I've ever encountered in the service industry. I was literally commanded upon check-in to "Give me your ID and credit card."
I was standing there at the check-in desk fanning my face because it was so hot, but they didn't offer me any water because I was not a Diamond member. All the Diamond members checking in next to me got complimentary water. That's what Diamond members get? And they deny water to non-Diamond members who clearly need it?? That's insane.
False advertisement: They are lying about having a "year-round outdoor pool." Although it's heated a little bit, it wouldn't be comfortable for anyone with temps under 85-90 or so. Their "hot tub" was cold as ice.
There are no towels provided at the pool, either. You are expected to bring towels from your room, although they don't mention this.
The breakfast was sub-par. They had biscuits and gravy, and the gravy had potential but fell completely flat. The plastic silverware is so cheap that a fork broke right in the middle of my meal.
The elevators were very slow, and had an alarm that went off when I held it for someone else for about 5 seconds. There is noticeable wear on much of the furniture throughout.
The room was an okay size, but very dilapidated and dingy with a funny smell. The thermostat was very old and difficult to press. And of course, everything was beige with zero personality.
Strange, super short shower curtain that of course allowed water all over the floor. Outdated shower knob that was also hard to turn. My partner and I both woke up with some bites, though I couldn't find evidence of bed bugs.
Not a good stay. Not recommended, and I'll be avoiding the Hampton Inn in the future.
Actually, I am so done with American hotels in general. They are allowed to lie in their advertisements and basically do whatever they want, but charge insane prices and fees of every kind with zero compassion or consideration. In most other countries, guests are actually treated with respect, service actually exists, and it doesn't cost nearly as much. There also isn't this rude assumption from the beginning that you're going to break or steal something. Americans have no idea how badly they're treated by this industry, but once you've been to Asia, or anywhere outside North America and possibly Western Europe, it's obvious. Seriously, Americans, don't settle for this nonsense. And definitely don't stay at the Hampton...
Read moreFrom the moment we got there we had issues. We completely prepaid for the room when we booked a 2 queen room for 3 nights. We went off of the rating with expedia.com, booking.com, and hilton.com. When we got there the seal to our room was already broken. So they moved us to a different room. Then when we got into the room there was a long black here on one of the pillows. I had to then go back downstairs to get a new one. The last night we were there I pulled the blankets off the bed to remake it since it was a mess. When I did I noticed a stain which was dark under the fitted sheet, pulled it back and there was blood on the mattress protector!!!!! They just covered it up. So I then had to go downstairs they told me I could change rooms AGAIN!! I'm sorry but NO. The managers didn't really seem to be bothered by the issues that I was having. Yes I was refunded but not by the managers. I am completely disappointed with the way that I was treated when I was here. Being a Hilton Honors Member and prepaying for our room. Didn't mean anything to them. I probably will never stay here again. I was not asked to come back and let them prove that this hotel isn't like that. They didn't try to make believe that this hotel could be better. And they didn't care when I told them that I would be posting a review about what happened. I am adding the photos for you all to see the issues that I found. Other issues that were found Black shoe marks on the walls, trash from previous people still in the room, Black hair also found in the bathroom, and light sockets thar don't work or won't hold a plug in...
Read moreI rate this hotel terrible for this reason; I was charged $250.00 for smoking in the room when in fact I did not, I repeat, I did not. The evidence they used is discarded packs and buts in the trash can. I am a very courteous smoker and did all of my smoking outside the building 25 feet or more from any doors or windows. As there were no disposal units I "field stripped" my cigarettes, put the buts in my pocket and threw them away in the room. This hotel should advertise themselves as "no smokers" not "no Smoking". The management did not even have the professionalism to discuss these charges with me in person. I only found out about the charges when I reviewed my CC statement. I was also charged $37.00 more than the final statement from Hampton showed. When I called the hotel to address these concerns the manager was very short and insulting even insinuating that I am a liar when I explained to her the process of "field stripping" and why the buts were in the trash. She hung up on me after saying " I have pictures". Pictures of what? Discarded packs and buts in the trash can?? I am contesting these charges with my CC company, I have written Hampton's corp. office and am advising everyone to avoid this hotel at all cost until they have a management change. I have had no response from the corp. office or the manager of the hotel whom I believe should be dismissed based on her dishonest and...
