I had a pretty good time here at the bar, atmosphere was good, live music was great, and the bartenders were great at being bartenders. I didn't order any food but the comments make it sound mediocre. I'm not gonna drop an opinion on something I didn't try.
Atmosphere: The pub has a main floor and an upper floor with plenty of seating. Its a standard American version of an Irish Pub (I'll let you decide what you think that means) with green lights and shamrock decorations everywhere. Thankfully there weren't any four leaf clovers. I see those at a lot of "Irish" pubs and shake my head. The live music was country themed (its Texas you country music is king here) and the band was pretty good.
Community: The community was amazing. Mostly older individuals here, you won't see too many young people which isn't a bad thing. My fiancé and I were the youngest at 21, however, that didn't change our experience. The staff and fellow customers were welcoming and engaging. One guy accidentally cut us in line (we weren't bothered), and the guy felt bad and paid for my drink. The bartender at one point accidentally mixed the wrong liquor in my drink (it was really busy and again we weren't bothered at all) and remade the drink and gave the one that was messed up to me for free. It was a very busy night and I could tell the bartenders were stressed, no need to take anger out on them. Ignore comments about the bartenders being bad, mistakes happen on busy nights.
Pricing: The pricing was a bit higher than average pubs, not too big of a deal though it wasn't like an arm or a leg.
Alcohol: Now here is where I had a little bit of a gripe. There is a pretty extensive selection of alcohol, and thankfully they actually carry a fair variety of Irish Whiskey's (some Irish pubs only have Jameson...) and beers. While the bartenders are great at being bartenders, the mixology at the bar isn't great. Now don't take this as a negative, I don't mean it in a rude way, but this is more of a beer and old fashions kind of pub and not a place for cocktails and mixed drinks. It is odd they have such a wide variety of alcohol and don't know all the amazing possibilities they can use that selection for. Now that being said, any recipe I gave the bartenders, they were able to make to the best of their ability. This tells me the bartenders are fully capable of making great mixed drinks which is awesome.
Overall I had a great time and would recommend this pub for anyone in the area. I'd challenge the pub owner to add some more traditional Irish cocktails. Oh, and they carry Tullamore Dew, which is my favorite Irish Whiskey. Hard Shandy, 1829, and Irish Manhattan would be great additions to the menu. 4.7 out...
Read moreVisited 11 years ago. We had a great time. When we went back a few months ago the first thing I experienced was what seemed to be an employee off shift puking in the bathroom and afterwards having a long talk with the bar tender at the entrance to the actual bar. Our server was not attentive. We waited long for each question or call for service. Worst long Island ever. I paid to get an extra shot of liquor put in to cover up the horrible pre mix and she pretended to poor a shot on which my husband saw at his angle and she did not poor anything. Water leaking on floor from back of bar into walkway to the bathroom. Definite problem. Showed the bouncer and they chose to leave it. Dirty tables. We wound up sitting outside where a man who seemed sober was angry and complaining about how the bouncer treated him. Lots of apologies from a staff member. All around horrible experience. We wont...
Read moreEnjoyed our dinner at O'Briens Irish Pub this evening. Ryan, our server, greeted us as we walked in the door. Came to our table as soon as we were seated to take our drink order, and was back with them propmtly. We ordered the sample platter, which consisted of potato skins, boneless buffalo chicken wings, cheese sticks, batted fried jalapenos, and battered fried mushrooms. For our entrees, Jimmy had the Country Cork Burger with Fries, and I had the French Dip Sandwich with Homemade Chips. Jimmy said his burger was very good. My French dip was delicious along with the fresh toasted French bread. The Au jux was very tasty, and the homemade chips were light and crispy. Will definitely stop back by again and hopefully will have another chance to chat with Ryan as we did...
