I am going to be honest for the sake of the public and the deli: I've eaten at the best Jewish delis in New York, such as 2nd Avenue Deli, for much of my life, so, I think I know from personal experience what a great corned beef sandwich looks and tastes like. This was definitely not among them. The corned beef sandwich I purchased from the Tenafly Kosher deli was sickly-looking. First, the atmosphere of the deli itself is not very appealing, and, that's being charitable--I'll leave it at that. So, negative first impression. Second, I specifically asked that the corned beef be lean and I added that it would be OK to charge me extra. The corned beef was not lean, there was gross fat throughout the sandwich. It was also cold. I smelled the corned beef and looked at it, and, frankly, it just was so vile, I couldn't bring myself to eat it, not even taste it. It was gross. For $11, there was not much corned beef, but, that didn't matter since I ended up not eating it. Lastly, the bread was mediocre, like supermarket "rye" bread, but, no caraway seeds. I have to say, I'm really surprised by my experience. Tenafly is an affluent town with a large Jewish population with, presumably, very high standards This place fell far short of that standard, in my...
Read moreThis was a delivery order:
This was my first time ordering from Tenafly Kosher Deli, and unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. Perhaps my expectations were influenced by my usual experiences with delis in Bergenfield and Glen Rock, but this takeout order didn’t measure up.
I ordered a combination pastrami and tongue sandwich, hoping for a satisfying meal, but it felt like I received mostly scraps with very little pastrami—the main component I was looking forward to. Additionally, I ordered a kasha knish, which turned out to be mini-sized, unlike what I’ve experienced at other delis.
I really wanted to love this meal, especially since I was hungry and craving a great pastrami and tongue sandwich, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. I hope this feedback is helpful for their improvement.

Read moreWho needs to go to Katz's in the City when you have Tenafly Kosher? Okay, that might be slightly hyperbolic, since Katz's is a unique experience, but if you want delicious kosher food, you don't need to schlep across the Hudson to get it. The knishes are always quality, and I love a great potato pancake, which are also done well. The sandwiches are fat and flavorful, and there is a wide variety of deli salads and mixed dishes that will make your eyes bigger than your stomach. Maybe it's a dollar or two more than some other delis, but if you feel the prices are higher, know that you are getting some quality food, served by a friendly staff. Easy to drive by this place if you don't know it, so take the...
