After seeing all the 4 star reviews we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant cleanliness were okay. When we approached the order area we should have left when we saw that each item was crusted over. The black beans, brown beans, chicken, spicy chicken, pork, and steak were all crusted and looked as though they had been out for hours with additional crust all around the tops of the plastic bags lining the warming containers. The Spanish rice was so dry it looked like sand. My wife ordered chicken tacos and steak tacos. I asked for a sample of chicken and spicy chicken.. they smelled rancid. I ordered a steak burrito with cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes and pico de gallo and rice.
My wife couldn't eat the chicken it was so salty and rancid tasting and smelling. The steak was tender but it was under cooked as in raw in the middle and it tasted like it had soaked in a salt brine. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. The cheese dip was okay, if a little runny. The chips tasted bitter as though fried in old unfiltered oil.
The staff acted as though they would rather be anywhere else. Not sure if it was their age, or if they really didn't care. I asked if they had anything fresh coming out and the counter people said no.. not until the existing product was used. I asked how long the items had been on the line. She replied that they had been out since noon. The current time was 7pm. We've spent the past 14 hours extremely ill and will...
Read moreI walked into Blue Coast tonight and politely asked if they were able to make the fish tacos, which what I would assume is the manager said yes, but the other workers didn’t look to pleased about that and made a comment about “making sure not to make a mess since I just cleaned it”. Then my wife ordered her food and we were asked for here or to go, we initially choose to go because we understood the store was closing, but the manager (again assuming here) said we could sit in the restaurant until 9pm, so we ate there. We made our way to the cash register, and one of the workers said to the manager “why did you say that” or something around there, which was said in earshot of us. Then the whole time we were eating, the staff (minus the manager) were looking at us while doing their tasks. We finally finished our meals and thanked the staff and they barely acknowledged us until we were practically out the door.
The food was ok, the bowl was good, but the tacos that I was looking forward to were dry and the tortilla fell apart as soon as I went to go...
Read moreDecided to give this a try to weigh against similar options in this concept. Selected a burrito with the chipotle flavored tortilla, half grilled, half "slightly spicy" chicken with various added ingredients. The chicken in both forms had good texture and flavor as did the rice, but the rest was quite lacking. The pepper & onion mix, which was an extra charge, was rather soft, with almost no crispness left. I guess I should have expected that as it appeared to be stored in water. The Pico de Gallo was just as problematic, with the tomato having the consistency of a cube of mashed potato, while less flavorful. The "hot" salsa might be laughed at by the mild sauce from Taco Bell and the tortilla joined the Pico in mushland somewhere during my short drive to Smyrna. For what seemed maybe just a scoach higher price point than Chipotle (I may be incorrect), I was definitely disappointed. Nothing against this place, but that was my take, so I will be taking myself back to...
