I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. This was my very first time with friends and family going to this restaurant. Four of us went and none of us had ever experienced it. From the second we walked in the door it was inviting and what a great atmosphere. Exceptional service. Very very friendly. The chips and salsa were fantastic. The menu itself is very well done. It was well thought out and clean. No food debris or salsa on it like I have seen at other places. Great variety options but not overwhelming to where you're trying to figure out what you're getting. All of our food came out and it was very, very flavorful. None of us had any complaints. What you pay and what you get The portion sizes are top notch. A very clean inviting atmosphere. The place was packed when we got there. And when we left it was still packed. Great drink selection. Great food selection. Because we were so excited and happy with everything we'd had, we wanted to all have dessert. Very rare Is it that I go to establishments and get desserts. We had the churros and the dessert nachos. We all four split them and they were incredible. The flavor was outstanding. The churros were off the charts. The nachos were off the charts. The presentation that we got was so top notch. This establishment, the food, the service, and everything that they are doing is fantastic. This is a gem inside of our community. The owner came out and personally checked on us. He didn't just check on us. He checked on everybody. This is a fantastic establishment that actually genuinely cares about your experience and the quality that you are getting. I have gone to all of the locations in our community and this is far and away... Far and away... The gold standard. We didn't just find a place we like. We found a place we love. This is definitely our new go-to place for authentic Mexican cuisine with a service that they offer that can't be replicated in other establishments for this type of dining experience. The food speaks for itself. But the one thing that made us feel so great was how happy and positive and appreciative EVERY person on staff was that you came to visit their establishment. We never felt like table 22 or table 5. They actually cared about our experience. They take the word customer and the word service and they put it together. Creating a fantastic customer service experience. I have not had their food truck. But I am willing to bet it's just as incredible as what we had tonight. Thank you to the entire staff for the service and the quality of food that we got tonight. Thank you to the owner for coming out and owning your business. Finally a place that does fresh authentic Mexican cuisine done right while blending fantastic hospitality, top to bottom. 100% get the churros for dessert. Great presentation! Those things are just phenomenal. We will be back 1,000%. Incredible experience! Well done to the...

Lucia's Taqueria Restaurant Review:

A Flavorful Expectation Unmet

Lucia's Taqueria Restaurant, while offering a cozy atmosphere and attentive service, unfortunately did not live up to the flavorful expectations set by their food truck at the soccer stadium. After enjoying the vibrant energy of the soccer tournament, the anticipation of a unique and bold dining experience was high. However, the reality fell short, leaving a sense of disappointment that aligns with some of the critiques found in online reviews.

The Food: A Bland Disappointment

The primary letdown was the food, particularly the chicken dish. While the chicken itself was tender, it lacked any discernible flavor or seasoning—one might expect a taqueria to deliver a punch of spice or zest, but that was absent here. Instead, the dish was dominated by the taste of cheese and rice, which overwhelmed any potential for a memorable culinary experience. For someone who values flavor as a critical component of dining, this blandness was especially striking. Online reviews have echoed similar sentiments, noting that certain dishes fail to capture the bold tastes typically associated with Mexican cuisine.

Positives Amid the Shortfalls

On a brighter note, the restaurant does have redeeming qualities. The ambiance was inviting, providing a warm and pleasant setting for a meal. Additionally, the staff were friendly and accommodating, which added a layer of comfort to the experience. These aspects, while not enough to offset the lackluster food, are worth acknowledging as strengths that could appeal to some diners.

Final Thoughts

In summary, Lucia's Taqueria Restaurant offers a welcoming environment and commendable service, but it stumbles significantly when it comes to delivering on flavor. The chicken with cheese and rice, as experienced, was a testament to this shortfall—tender but uninspired, leaving little to discuss beyond its lack of taste. For a taqueria with a presence as promising as its food truck at the soccer stadium, this was a surprising and underwhelming outcome. The restaurant shows potential but would benefit greatly from a bolder approach to seasoning and a commitment to crafting dishes that stand out. Until then, those seeking a truly flavorful Mexican dining experience might find better options elsewhere. This review reflects your high expectations, your specific critique of the food's lack of flavor, and a balanced perspective that incorporates the restaurant's strengths while addressing its...

I can't thank the people at Lucia's enough. I had emailed them earlier in the week to check on animal ingredients in the rice and beans. I received prompt replies and found out both were free of animal ingredients. It's common for restaurants to use lard in refried beans and chicken (broth) in rice. I also asked if they'd be willing to cook vegetables in a clean pan or something which they said they could, but be sure to ask at the restaurant.

So we stopped by Lucia's #1 while in town for some Christmas shopping. Looking at the menu I was worried about eating there with all the "meat" options. I explained everything to our server and she was very nice and understanding. I appreciate the extra work the kitchen staff did to prepare our food how we requested.

My wife had a vegetarian salad and I basically did too. I got flour shells with mine and ate it as a fajita. The chips and salsa were really good. Guacamole was also tasty. We both enjoyed our meals. We both ate way too much but it was too delicious to stop. I might try a burrito on our next visit.

So if you're a vegetarian or vegan and the menu options are intimidating, no need to worry. Lucia's staff are willing to accommodate and stuff like rice and beans are already safe for vegans. It is tricky finding a vegan friendly restaurant in Terre Haute. Thank...

Don't order online from here. The menu is supposedly being updated, and they will just give you whatever the new menu item is. Ex: on the online menu, they offer a 2 tamale meal for 7.50, but they will only give you one tamale and say that's what the new menu is. Then they will argue with you saying they have a "new menu, and online just isn't updated" Definitely not worth the price for mediocre Mexican food. Pic is of their "2 tamale lunch" Update: even after all of that, the tamale was stale and overcooked like it was leftover from yesterday and microwaved. Would not recommend even dine in.

We are always looking for good tacos. We thought these were great. The al pastor were the favorite but the asado were also very good with the salsa they provided. It was tender and not tough at all like some steak tacos. We also tried the birria and the gorilla burrito. No one in our family of 8 complained one bit. Everyone liked everything they tried. We will definitely be back. And on top of all of that it was super fast! We came up ordered 9 tacos, 2 burritos, and 1 birria and our order was ready in way faster than we expected.
