A unique facility with a history of its own. So much history to read a about. I need to spend a lot more time on my next visit.

It was great to meet George Leach while I was there. He is a living history book. Great to talk to. We started with his football face shields (first ones ever - see photo), and then moved on to a multitude of other topics including WWII.

The staff was phenomenal; very friendly and helpful. I had lunch at the soda fountain near the entry. Good pasta and good conversation with the staff. Anytime you can chat with the staff, you're likely to discover something interesting...

We stopped here on a road trip, and it was SO worth it. We came because of the legend of Stiffy Green, a bulldog that allegedly stood guard over his owner's mausoleum--there is a reproduction of the mausoleum in the basement (!). But we were enchanted by the beautiful historic house and the intricate set-ups in each room, which either showed sample furniture of the time, or depicted a historic store in Terre Haute. Free attraction, what's not to love? You can also buy a Stiffy...

This is really a good museum. I would heavily recommend it. Its clean, the displays are laid out very well. Perhaps the records and documents don't need to be hidden behind a drug store? But other than that, it tells the story of the county really well and honors those who were one of the first in. I love the exhibit about immigrants, as well as the exhibit for first responders. The coke bottles are excellent and I love the mock up recreation of...

Love the new Historical Museum. The displays are amazing, and its so much more accessible and organized than before. I dont like that Stiffy Green is in the dark, even though I know its supposed to be interactive. Really wish the horror section was larger, but the research center and all the recreations of old buildings is so cool. Staff is fantastic and love the gift shop! Highly recommend a visit.
