Honestly I like the workers. But the food is FOWL. As I was a former food health inspector and a certified cook I have never seen this kind of cooking before. What kind of concoctions are you guys making. The salsa taste like alcohol. It’s been fermenting. So I’m pretty sure it’s days old. The soup I ordered, the potatoes turned into French fries- grainy , the carrots are limp and stringy and hard on outside, super stringy mushy on the inside. So they’re using veggies that are not fresh. The soup I got is called caldo de rez and it tastes like straight up rotel and lentejas. I would recommend not choosing this place. I would recommend, I like la azteca better, they give you more your buck. Here at this location is 13$ for 20oz cup of soup with no rice or tortillas. La azteca is 9.99 drink and tortillas and rice and a 32oz soup. I will be business elsewhere. As for this meal, my husband who eats about everything, was absolutely disgusted and said it was not even close to caldo de rez. I know everyone says it’s our recipe. Well change it cause it’s nasty and most likely the reason why you guys don’t get business. You just have loyal customers. Gordon Ramsay would be disappointed.

Been wanting to try this place and it was a disappointment for sure. The chicken fried steak was tough as leather, about an 1/8 of an inch thick, and 40 percent batter. I'm almost 50 and was born in Texas. I've eaten chicken fried steak at hundreds of restaurants. This was one of the worst. There was at least an inch of batter around most of it and a decent chunk of it had like 2 inches of batter. Also the batter just pealoff the top in one piece, very odd. As you can see in picture the supposed steak looked more like a McDonald's hamburger patty than a steak. The hash browns were slimy and had a very strange taste to them. The waitress was rude and never came back after the food was brought out. Bad service, bad food, would not recommend this place to anyone.

Must be an off day because the service was at best a low 3. We were starving so didn't make a fuss of wrong drink orders and not getting any menus. Steak was not medium well, but rather burnt. Mac&cheese was mac-in-water, and never received my salad. Only reason I was going to give a 3 was because coffee was good & they accommodated my daughters pancake request. However, as we finished our meal and were the last ones out, an employee made a remark to the waitress asking if all tables had paid & when she replied NO, he said 'someone' was going to get mad. Not only do we speak Spanish but had literally just taken our last bite.

You really can't beat the Tex-Mex & southern comfort in Terrell Texas in general, and Yellow Rose is no exception. My family and I have been eating here for years and their service is nothing if not fantastic. The wait staff are kind and courteous, the only problem you may have is needing to double check your order if it's a busy day, it can get a bit noisy (Not loud mind you, just noisy like any good cantina should be) in there so you can't blame the waitresses for mishearing a thing or two. And of course the food itself, I won't be going over the menu items individually (because that would make this a 20 page essay in great food) but heed my words it is all delicious and amazing. If the prices intimidate you, don't let them, this is real good ol' southern comfort food made fresh when you order it, not stuff that's been sitting under a heat lamp waiting for someone to order it. And of course, to help with the wait, they serve you free freshly cooked tortillas chips and delicious salsa. These people could serve you a piece of plain bread, and they'd still manage to make it hot and savory. And last but not least, there's the general atmosphere of the restaurant itself, the first thing you'll notice (especially on a bright summer day) is how dark it is inside, it might take your eyes a minute to adjust to it but once they do you'll be fine. Now it's not DARK dark mind you, like one of them fancy yuppie restaurants where you gotta use a flashlight just to read the darn menu. Instead Yellow Rose is comfortably dark, lots of natural light coming in from the shaded windows, and not much interior light to give it that kind of "Rustic" aesthetic, which matches well with all the old farm tools and just the Mexican and western decor the place has. Even the music fits perfectly, usually being real country, or that always catchy Mexican Norteño and Tejano music. And as I said earlier, when this place gets busy (as it often does) it can get noisy inside from all the conversation, not loud, just noisy like any good restaurant. All in all this is another fine example of the absolutely amazing Southern comfort and Tex-Mex eateries in Terrell, Texas. If you're bumbling about looking for a new place to take your family to dinner, well...
