Baccailis Cafe American Country Style Breakfast Lunch Dinner — Restaurant in Texas

Absolutely Horrible experience, from service to quality of food...

We came in today because this place had been recommended by family so we thought we would give it a shot. When we got to the restaurant there was someone paying with the only waitress which took about 10 mins, looking around There was only the one small group leaving as we came in so we figured we lucked out and came in at the right time... then were seated and asked if we wanted anything to drink... took another 10 mins to get 3 drinks and no sweetener for my tea. Which I asked for...A few mins later (5+) she came and took our food order with no sweetener so I again asked for some. About 10 mins later she came with our salads and again no sweet so I asked a 3rd time and she went and grabbed us with our even a sorry. About 5 mins later she came out with my chicken fried steak and my wife’s pasta saying that my daughter’s burger would be a little longer... We had to ask for utensils, and napkins which she brought out with my daughter burger a few mins later. I cut into the CFS only to have the batter shell shatter like a broken car window (way over cooked) underneath the meat was dry and burned except for about a two inch strip in the middle which seemed to be ok so I tried to eat that and felt like I was biting into a salt lick... in all fairness my wife liked her pasta and my daughter didn’t seem to mind her burger but my meal was inedible and when I asked to have them remove it from the ticket they didn’t even offer to replace it. Not that I would have accepted at their point... needless to say I won’t be...

This is more than likely my FINAL time visiting Baccailis Cafe. I was introduced to this restaurant seceral years ago. Great service, great food, great prices! This has steadily gone downhill.

For the last three visits, the service staff has been rude and the food delivery (to table) has been ridiculously slow, as the restaurant has not been busy during the times I’ve come.

Today, I was having my car serviced at Christian Brothers and decided to have breakfast at Baccailis ehile I wait. I walked to the cafe and sat outside for 30 minutes until they were to open at 8AM. No problem. At 8:05 AM, an employee came and unlocked the door and quickly walked away. I gathered my things and moved to go into the cafe. The notification chime sounded as I opened the door, yet NO ONE came to the front for 7 minutes. The remained off and there was absolutely no one available to greet, seat, etc. It was clear someone was there, as he/she opened the door and was currently moving about in the kitchen.

I decided to call it a wrap and leave. It was apparent that I was not valied enough to even acknowledge. In addition whoever was in the kitchen began hacking…yeah, that made me want to dine at the cafe even more (sarcasm).

As I left the restaurant, the notification chime sounded. Once I was walking toward Christian Brothers, someone came to the door after me. How did I know/hear? The LOUD notification chime. So, if I hear it across the parking lot, it was heard in the empty...

I can't tell you how happy I am that we tried this place tonight. It was our first time and we decided to just go pick up dinner instead of getting the whole family out. When I called to place the order, the girl that answered the phone was very polite and spoke clearly to ensure our order was correct when it was read back to us and confirmed. Quoted time was 20 mins. I arrived in 18 mins and the food came right out. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a house salad. She loved every bite. I snagged a bite and the breading was seasoned very well and still crunchy (even after being in to go containers for a drive back home). Her mashed potatoes were good and the cream gravy went well with it all. The house salad was fresh and the ranch was really good. I had the fried catfish with fries and fried okra. Catfish was delicious. I only wish I had a lemon slice to hit it with. The fries were seasoned well and crispy and the okra was like momma used to make. My kids went w8th the chicken fingers and the cheeseburger. They both actually finished their meals and wasted more after. I took my "dad tax" for both and I would eat both of the meals and be happy. The chicken was delicious and the burger was actually juicy and seasoned. Maybe it was just a slow night(Sat at 7:30) but when I went to pick up my order, the place was pretty empty. This place deserves more support than that. Can't wait to try more...
