I want to start off by saying that Jim, the employee at the reel counter is awesome. He’s a super nice guy and I enjoy talking to him every time I swing by. Cynthia (an apparent manager, I have no idea how) on the other hand is the complete opposite. She is rude and inconsiderate and made my 5 min trip to BP a terrible experience and I doubt I’ll be going back. Let me explain.
I came in with my 2 kids for a quick purchase of a pole and a Lowrance fish finder. I walk over to the counter with the pole in my hand, knowing exactly what Lowrance I want. They didn’t have any at the counter, but Jim being awesome, went and checked the back for me. 15 minutes later or so he comes back with the last one they have. Perfect, I’m ready to check out. Now I’m at the reel bar register, Club card and Military ID sitting on the counter. Another customer is wanting to buy a finder and Jim doing what he does, says “one second, let me grab this for this gentleman.” No problem I say. I wait about 5 minutes for him to find the electronic he needs and right when he finishes 3 guys walk up with another employee and he starts checking them out. Each one of their guys have about 10-15 hooks/baits/lures and they’re all checking out separately. Everyone who’s been to bass pro knows it’s slower to check out at the reel bar than it is at the front. So now the guy buying the electronic is behind me in line, my kids are insanely bored losing their minds and I went from ready to check out to 4th in line. Jim is over by the electronics talking to another employee. This is where Cynthia comes into play. Mind you, I’ve been here for 40+ minutes at this point. I walk up and ask Jim “is there any way you can have an employee walk the Lowrance up so I can check out at the front, this line is going to take for ever” Cynthia tells me “Sir, there are lines at the front too. It’s just busy” then proceeds to tell Jim not to bother having an employee walk my item up to the front for me and just have me wait. Remember, I was at the register checking out. I explained this to Cynthia when she made her smart remark, but she didn’t care. I went from the front of the line to the end of the line and all I did was ask to check out at the front because the line moves faster. it took over 20 minutes for them to check out the 3 guys who were somehow in front of me now. My 5 minute trip to BP ended up being over an hour. Insane.
TLDR: Jim at the reel bar is an awesome employee, this rating would be 5/5 for him alone. Cynthia is an inconsiderate and rude employee and I have no idea how or why she would ever be a manager. If I could give 0/5 stars I would,...

Read moreI’m giving this an honest review (4 of 5). This was my very 1st time walking into a BPS. The moment I entered and throughout the store I was greeted. I immediately felt welcomed. I came to shop for fishing items to go fishing with my brother. I was clueless with what I was needing (I’m a beginner). I ran into two employees who then introduced me to Doug. Doug greeted himself and was very patient from start to finish. I probably spent an hour in the store and maybe half that time with Doug. Doug was very genuine and honest and you could tell he wasn’t there to just push a sell. He really wanted me to go out and fish and have a great time. He provided me with everything that I needed to get started and I ended up buying not 1 but 2 fishing poles + other fishing items.
While waiting for fishing string to be put on my reel, I walked the store. I stopped by the sunglasses stand and the young lady there was very nice and friendly. After leaving the sunglass stand, I ran into Amy and another wonder lady (forgot her name). They were the best! I told them it was my 1st time there and the place was huge. The ladies were friendly and told me I needed to come back with the kids and get the full experience! Apparently you can feed the fish on Saturday’s!! We talked and they told me about the benefits of becoming a member and the points that I can gain (Because of them I even purchased a hat). The membership sounded like a great deal, but to invest, I like to get the full experience from the moment I walk in to the time I leave.
The place was so big, I didn’t even know there was a checkout area. I grabbed the hat I wanted to purchase and went towards the checkpoint where I entered. I seen a guy and a register and I approached to make the purchase. I spoke to the guy at the register and I didn’t get any response. Thinking he didn’t hear me, I spoke again. This time he wasn’t as friendly and it’s ok, you never know what people are going through. As I begin to walk out a lady directed me to the checkout area. A guy at the register said hello and asked for my receipt of purchase. Before I could give it to him, he immediately grabbed it out of my hand almost causing my phone to fall. Like please just let me give it to you. Afterwards, I just ready to leave the store completely.
Overall, for my 1st time, I had a great experience up until the last 5mins. I didn’t get to walk around to see everything, but I’m sure to be back. When I do return, I hope to run into Doug and the two other...
