I have visited this location three times since they have opened.
The first time I stopped here was supposed to be their grand opening day, but they could not open due to an inspection. One of the ladies inside saw me looking around so she came to the door, greeted me and handed me a coupon for a free appetizer for the inconvenience. I appreciated it and moved along.
My second try was pretty exciting because I was expecting great things. I mean, it's Outback. I had been to the old location countless times and the service, food, feel, everything was spectacular, so why would I expect anything different here?
Well, the service was still great, but the food just was not up to par. I'm not quite sure why. I have always loved their mashed potatoes, but they were hard, did not have much flavor, and the salmon dish I got was pretty much the same: flavorless. I will tell you it ended nicely enough, though. I got the salted caramel cookie and felt all better (briefly, I still had to pay for my food ;). It was so delicious! :)
The last time I visited was a few weeks later. They were pretty packed, but got us in quickly. I was impressed and again, looking forward to a good experience. Our server, Eric, was someone I recognized from the old location and he was great. He's one of those who remembers your order of the entire menus with thirty changes and still gets it right. The food arrived and it was good, but really not as good as I remember. We regularly order the Outback Special with mashed potatoes and Caesar salad, so we knew what to expect and just wasn't like it used to be.
There was almost no room for the servers to move around one another. It's a pretty tight squeeze in there (I didn't notice during my first visit because we were seated at the bar with plenty of room). To add to the shenanigans, the ladies' room was not very clean, there was a stall with a toilet no working, and unfortunately, quite a few women sharing similar comments - "we won't be coming back, it's not the same."
With all that being said, I don't want to take away from the great experiences we had prior to their move. I know it's been pretty crazy since they're been at their new location, so maybe it just takes some getting used to before they can get everything just right. But I won't be visiting again for a little while. I hope things get better while I'm gone because I do want to come back and love...
Read moreI don't review restaurants many times, because I'm normally satisfied with their service and food, but today I decided to go to Outback on Bay area Blvd with my family and the truth is that it didn't meet our expectations. Our entree was some shrimp and maccaroni bites. The shrimp were extremely greasy and their coating, instead of being crispy, was watery. My main dish was an 8oz sirloin combo with shrimp, a baked potato and seasonal rice, I ordered the meat finished medium, and the meat came more cooked and drier than a well done. hard and dry. Without juices, what bothered me the most was the smell of the outer layer. It smelled like a burnt and dirty iron plate. The baked potato tasted great. I can not deny it. The light layer of salt on the outside of the potato shell is a very pleasant touch to the palate. But when I cut the potato I realized that the sour cream was very little in relation to the size of the potato. A deeper cut and generous dressing would be perfect. My wife ordered a potato soup, and she liked it. For the main course she ordered a sirloin combo with ribs. the term medium rare. The sirloin arrived pink and cooked in the center. very far from a medium rare term. He also complained about the smell of the meat. It smelled like it was cooked on some very used iron plate without cleaning. It smelled burnt instead of the rich aroma of fresh meat on a clean iron plate or grill. The attention was excellent. That's why our tip according to the service. Every weekend we visit a different restaurant. but Outback I don't think it would be a good idea to repeat. The same type of meal including 3 glasses of wine and 1 similar desert at Longhorn we paid $119 last week excluding tip and taxes. and the truth is that we enjoy meat. Longhorn smelled delicious from the...
Read moreI've been to many Outbacks in many different states. I must say, I've never had a bad experience like we had at this one in Webster. Had to ask for bread and butter after theu brought out salads, then they brought the steaks out within 2 mins of getting the salads. My husband got the ribeye steak as he always does wherever we go. This one was nothing but fat. I mean everyone knows you get a ribeye for the marbling. This was pure fat, looked pretty rough to me. My sirloin was over cooked and tough, but I didn't want to complain as I got my husband to complain to server about his ribeye (he never complains). The manager came over & didn't say I'm sorry, didn't seem sympathetic at all, was pretty cold honestly. She asked if he wanted a different type of steak. Umm, no, why would he want something other than what he always gets from every steakhouse?! So she said she would get him a new ribeye made. She came back with a paper thin round barley cook steak. It not only looked terrible, but she said she handpicked this ridiculous paper thin steak herself. Who would ever pick this steak to serve to a customer at Outback Steakhouse! Not only was it thin, but it had tons of garlic salt on it. No other steak from Outback has ever had garlic salt on it like this. It was awful! We believe they dumped the garlic salt on purpose. Like, I'll show you what a bad steak is...try this! Wow, absolutely appalling that we spent money for two crappy steaks! To think, the time before that, I had taken friends out to Outback & spent $500 on lunch and had a great experience. I dont mind spending money, but the food needs to be what I pay for. This food was not...
