Pollo Regio — Restaurant in Texas

My review of this place is mixed. 👍🏼👎🏼

I ordered the #2 and #4 combo meals. The chicken breast meat in the taquitos I ordered was extremely tough, and the outer shells were fried too long. As a result, when I bit into one, the outer shell completely crumbled away, and I was left chewing the tough white meat.

The beef fajita meat from the other combo was tough and overcooked as well. The refried beans, charro beans, and Spanish rice were very good, though.

What I like most about this place is the way they package food to go. They individually wrap and package everything—entrees, sides, and condiments—so that they stay in tact and hot and fresh. I really appreciate this as someone who doesn’t always eat my food right away.

This is my second visit to this place, and the taquitos were cooked the exact same way both visits. Their menu is pretty dull and boring, filled with entrees you’ve seen before, only cooked better at other Tex-Mex restaurants. This will most likely be my last visit to this place.

Honestly, I prefer Taco Cabana’s food over this place, which is the business that occupied this building before Pollo Regio. I miss my frozen margarita I used to get at Taco Cabana.😕 Great packaging just isn’t enough for me to justify...

Place: Medium size restaurant, hardly ever people inside. Inconsistency: I went to this place twice, first time I ordered chicken was ok and also charro beans and rice, second time beans did not taste the same I almost 100% sure that they added water to beans to make them last longer. Price: Food is pricy here, only plate I will say that you get what you pay for is the half chicken, also make a nonsense that a burrito meal with drink is less than half chicken and is more expensive. This place has really Gone downhill- the shredded chicken inside the tostada is no longer white meat. It’s dark meat full of fat like they put it in the blender and not even shredded. I’ve complained multiple times to the office because I loved the tostada and I’m sad to see this kind of downgrade. Nothing has been done after my complaint and so I’m sad to say I will no longer visit this location please save yourself the time and go somewhere else.
