Scotty's — Restaurant in Texas

This hole in the wall located in the corner of a strip mall in the Southbelt/ Ellington area on Scarsdale is just the smoky, laid back atmosphere for the ‘Working Class Hero” that’s needed to round out the offerings in said strip center. It’s got a full bar and some a nice selection of cold beers, from what I heard. They have pool tables and poker tournaments on Thursday nights. Good music streams from the speakers and occasionally you can catch a live band here or a DJ. The real star here is the food and the atmosphere. Scotty, yes his real name is Scotty, grills, smokes, bbq’s, fries, pulls, carves all his own meats here at the restaurant then he coaxes more flavor from them by turning them into every late night and cheat dish you’ve ever wanted by putting pulled pork on tater tots with, sour cream, tomatoes, jalapeños, this super top secret cheese sauce that they use on their Disco Fries too which will be scraping the last bit off their blue and white 50’s checked paper “Happy Days” presentation. Going to Scotty’s Pub is a like a nostalgic trip to your mother’s kitchen, but better because they put a sunny side up egg on a lot of their dishes. It’s so simple, yet a genius move. The egg yolk brings this unctuous flavor to every dish it’s on mixing in with their other sauces to build this natural creaminess. I can’t get enough and the fried duck wing appetizers are to die for. Happy Hour includes 5 appetizers for $5.00. It’s the same 5: Disco Fries, Dirty Fries, Pork Tacos, Fried Avocados, and I’ll leave something to the imagination. They have burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, and salads. Service and friendliness from bartenders was great. Played in a pool tournament here so it was my first time checking out the place. Unfortunately, one of the games stole my money. I've had game machines malfunction on me before and they can pull audits on the machine and pay out what was in there so far. This was a total scam machine. After putting in my thirs hundred dollar bill, I finally got a winning bonus round. And during the bonus round I got a $400 fireball (in addition to what I already had in there and the remaining bonus round winnings) and then the machine resets and goes to demo mode!!! My date and I were flabbergasted and in disbelief. We told the staff. Got in touch with Craig the manager. He got in touch with other people. And they told me they weren't allowed to show customers their audit tickets. So don't get robbed...

I can see why people like Scotty's, it's a good time neighborhood bar!

FOOD: The owner is a culinary instructor at HCC so the food is really good! They have plenty of local craft beers on tap which is ALWAYS A PLUS. I visited for an event so I didn't get to taste much from Scotty's menu but there is a huge chalk board of various items that the locals appeared to love.

The Pub Nachos and burgers seemed to be coming out left and right.

No Label is on tap and there are bottles available at Scotty's.

PARKING: Easy..breezy.. there is a lot that is right out front. No street parking necessary. If you live in the neighborhood I would advise walking!
