No 'ta bueno, 'ta BUENÍSIMO. I decided to try birría tacos for the first time. I also ordered guacamole. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best guacamole I've ever tried. Then the 3 massive birría tacos arrived and I was surprised that in addition to the consume, there was pico, radish slices, pickled red cabbage, lime slices, red and green salsa. The doubled up corn tortillas were somehow still crispy and held together even though the consume had been drenched. The very tender beef was in small enough pieces that they didn't cause lumps, but large enough that they didn't spew out of the taco when biting into it or dipping. There was a perfect amount of stringy melted white cheese to keep it glued together but definitely not enough to overpower the flavor. Most wonderfully surprising was the hint of sweetness that I got. At first I thought it was because the picked cabbage or the lime that I added, but on the last one (after taking a breather and a corona break) I didn't doctor it up and still got the sweet note. I think it's the corn tortillas, which had a unique orange tint. The waitress told me that birría style comes from Mexico City and originally uses goat meat, but they prepare it with beef. I'm so happy I tried them and though the restaurant is small in size, it's big on flavor and portion size. While dining on a late Friday evening, they were busy with take out orders and pick up orders and the dining room and patio had multiple guests. Bonus, they had the Astros game on 3 large TVs visible from anywhere inside. I noticed some pick up guests asking about their agua fresca selection and the manager gave them small cups to taste the flavors to see what they liked. I ordered churros to take home and they put the ice cream on the side so I could enjoy it later since I am currently much too full. The tacos were about $14, but we're huge (trust me, no rice or beans necessary). The guacamole was over $10 as well but it was easily enough to serve as an appetizer for 3-4 people. I had to try the churros because they're filled with cajeta (like a Carmel dulce de leche), served with strawberry ice cream, fresh strawberry slices, chocolate syrup and...
Read moreTo start off my wife and I recently heard about this place so we tried it about two nights ago. Man o man were we glad we did fajitas birria tacos salsa quesadillas were all on point even the sides so fast forward to tonight we went and reordered almost a similar dinner for our kids to try because they wanted to try and were not here when we tried the first time anyways we bragged how good it was welp folks second trip back not sooo much. Very kind and nice workers but I assume this place is one of those places where u try the first time it's great then next time not the same welp that's what happened to us wife got home the fajita beef all of it in the fajitas is unchewable soaked in grease as well as the chicken the quesadillas are so greasy it made the tortillas so nasty and soggy there not even quesadillas anymore my chicken dinner I got the chicken is huge but no flavor and so dry u can't barely eat it then the pico is sour and also the house salsa was not very good. Only upside wee the birria tacos tonight? All in all it was a greasy overly salted bad cooked dinner. We get places have bad nights so my wife will be contacting the manager or owner tomorrow by phone to see if he would like to fix and replace and if not we will not be back but tonight basically all of the food we are donating to the local church or food pantry so other then that Guess it was a bad night.
Update: We called the owner he was very rude we WILL NOT BE BACK THERE IS A REASON THIS PLACE IS ALWAYS EMPTY! BE AWARE PEOPLE!!! When kids won't eat the food you know it was that bad!! Good luck at bueno y'all need it! Very poor customer service by the owner! He actually immediately when my wife explained what happened made a rude comment and hung up like a child throwing a temper tantrum !!! Bet they go outta of business!...
Read moreIf I could give a negative five stars. I would. I ordered my food online and was very disappointed. I understand everyone’s taste buds are different but it couldn’t possibly differ when it comes to this place. Red flags was there when I pulled in the parking lot. No cars. So I entered cautiously, hoping my judgment was wrong. I looked to my left and saw only 1 family dining. Now, I want to ask for a refund of my $41 but again, didn’t want to judge the place based on what I was seeing. I ordered 2 beef enchilada plates and tried the Birria tacos for the first time. The enchiladas was gross. They were bland and had a weird smell to them. I thought the beef was grounded but instead large chunks. Enchiladas are based on cheese and there was little to none. The rice was wasn’t seasoned and had a smell also. The beans were ok but I definitely had better. The Birria tacos was ok. I didn’t quite know how to rate them, since it was my first time trying them. I must say, I did enjoy the Coke. Save your time and money by avoiding this place....
