Good Chicken, Terrible Experience. Urban Bird has great chicken, real tenders, solid size, and better quality than the bite-sized robbery Cane’s now tries to pass off. But that’s where the praise ends, because just about everything else here is a mess.
Let’s start with the menu confusion. I’ve been to Urban Bird three times in the past month and a half, and I’ve seen three different menus. Not tweaks, complete changes. One version didn’t even allow you to order plain tenders, the item this entire place is supposedly built around. The seasoning options? They keep renaming them. I asked for a flavor by the name it used to have, and the staff acted like I was speaking gibberish until they realized they were calling it by yet another different name (neither of which were on the new menu). Why not just pick one and stick with it?
Then there’s the Bird Pack. The menu clearly says it comes with 2 large sides, but when I tried to select Street Corn, I was told, "Oh, the system won’t let us use that as a side." Excuse me? Then why is it listed as one of the options?
Worse, if you order tenders by themselves ,even 4 or 6 at nearly $4 a piece, they don’t include any sauce. You want Bird Sauce? That’ll cost you extra. You’re literally paying premium prices for dry tenders unless you tack on even more. That’s greedy and ridiculous.
And then there are the fries. I don’t know who thought sugar on fries was a good idea, but that’s a hard no from me. Fries should be savory, not taste like a dessert gone wrong.
To be clear: the chicken is good. Really good. But Urban Bird is making the experience exhausting. Menu lies, unhelpful systems, nickel-and-diming for sauce, rotating names for flavors, it’s chaos dressed in chicken grease. I’m giving it 2 stars because the core product has potential. But everything else? A...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at Urban Bird Hot Chicken. I placed my order at 9:03 PM and waited for half an hour before realizing my order wasn’t coming. When I finally went to the register to check on the status, the staff claimed that the ticket didn’t print in the kitchen, even though people who came after me received their orders. At one point, I was the only person in the restaurant, so you’d think they’d notice me sitting there without food or at least ask if I was still waiting. After being informed my order was lost and hadn’t been made, I opted for a refund instead of waiting another half-hour. The refund was processed at 9:34 PM, but the staff didn’t apologize or show any remorse for their mistake.
While waiting, I noticed how filthy the restaurant was. None of the staff came around to wipe down the dirty tables or clean the drink and condiment station. I was seated in a booth near the register and could see all the employees in the back, fooling around and chatting instead of attending to customers. At one point, an employee tossed a fork at a customer, which bounced and nearly hit me in my booth.
This establishment has gone downhill with its filthy conditions and unprofessional staff. They take forever to make food because they clearly don’t care about their customers. I used to love this place when it first opened, and the customer service was great. Unfortunately, it’s not worth the headache or the poor service anymore. You can find better hot chicken establishments elsewhere. Management needs to retrain their staff and do some serious quality control. I won’t be...
Read moreTL:DR: Urban Bird Hot Chicken is now Urban Bird Bland Chicken.
We’ve been here since this place first opened and at that time, the food quality was great. Fast forward to 2023, the food quality took a turn downward and left us feeling unsatisfied.
On 12/15/23, we ordered the bird pack for dinner and once we got home, we saw that the tenders were burned. Still, we gave it a chance and took a bite, hoping that the flavor was still good, but unfortunately it wasn’t. The tenders were unseasoned, flavorless, and overcooked.
I’m not the type to call and speak to the manager, but this was my second time my bird pack was lacking flavor and my money said “hey bro, you should call em”. I called and told the manager that the Nashville/Beautiful Burn flavor hasn’t been tasting the same these last few orders and a few other details, but my comments were not heard. The manager states that the food was made the way it was supposed to be. So, I ended the call shortly afterwards since we weren’t really getting anywhere.
As a day one customer, the fam and I can say that the food quality is no longer the same. The chicken you get is now double fried/overcooked, unseasoned, and simply put.. bland. We’ll miss...
