UPDATE: Returning to Bagel Bar, I had tu try a sandwich. I went with the old standby, Bacon (turkey), Egg, and Cheese on a sesame bagel (Bagel Bar calls this The Cowboy). I was hesitant because there is a twist to this NJ classic, there is a schmear of cream cheese on the bagel! I have to admit, it worked! It wasn't too heavy and it complemented the bacon and eggs. I was shocked with every bite. The sesame bagel was fresh and very tasty. A really great sandwich and a new go-to for me.

Ok, I have lived in North Texas for 6 years, transplanted from NJ, and when I read that Bagel Bar, a new bagel shop in The Colony, is FLYING bagels in from New York City, I had to try it. I was greeted by owner Salima, who smiled as she explained that her bagels are down in from New York, made with that famous "New York water." There was a variety of bagel flavors including plain, poppy, pumpernickel, everything, garlic, sesame, and egg. I was too late for the sesame, already sold out, so I opted for a half dozen of 2 plain, 2 everything, and 2 egg. I also ordered an everything toasted with cream cheese. I topped it off with a coffee that Salima explained was an Ethiopian roast. The coffee was smooth and slightly nutty. It was a good match with the bagel. As for the bagels, first off, they are BIG. The everything I had was crunchy and chewy. The key is the cream cheese. This can make or break a bagel. Well, the cream cheese was, yes creamy, and it has the perfect tang to it that added to the flavor of the bagel. I'm looking forward to having a sandwich on these large bagels, especially if Salima is able to secure Taylor ham! I do miss the Taylor ham, egg, and cheese! The shop is very welcoming with tables as well as a coffee bar to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. It's great to have a taste of New York...

Can't believe I didn't know this place was here. Friendly staff and friendly attentive owner. Cozy little cafe atmosphere. Creative menu options with the basic staples of you like NYC bagels. I really enjoyed my visit and my breakfast, looking forward to coming back again and happy to have found this establishment. If you haven't been here I definitely recommend giving it a try, whether you're coming in just for a coffee (away from the big chains) or looking for just a tasty bagel or bagel sandwich with your coffee, you should give them a shot.

Their bagels are shipped in from NYC. My family is from Brooklyn and if you know the the reality you'll know businesses here can try to make NYC bagels locally, but our water here just ruins it. Local bagel shops in Texas have to either source their bagels direct from NYC, or source fresh water from either NYC or similar quality water elsewhere to make a decent bagel, each one with its trade off. Nothing in Texas is as good as same day fresh in NYC, but I still love me a good bagel nonetheless. I personally prefer the fresh locally, using imported water, but still generally good either way. The imported bagel option sometimes can sometimes be more dense and less fresh-tasting. I know this just from family visiting and bringing bagels same day to us from local delis when...

BAGEL BAR & COFFEE - The Colony, TX

Vibes: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - all the stars! Literally the cutest place I’ve ever been. You can feel the love the owner put into this business. Fancy coffee, bagels, books, & plants?! Say less! Owner was very involved in our visit start to finish, making suggestions & visiting with us.

Food/drink: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - we split an everything bagel with avocado, bacon, cheese , add cream cheese & a garlic bagel with sausage, egg, cheese, & jalepeno cream cheese. Wouldn’t change a thing. SO. GOOD. I had an iced coffee with caramel & pumpkin & it was also delicious but I did add one pack of sweetener bc I apparently prefer coffee milk. Who knew 🤣

Accessibility: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - brand new strip mall, clean parking lot with nice new cement & ramps. Inside there were a mixture of low & high top tables. Bathroom was a single stall with a bar. Only comment would be there is a decorative table in a corner that was very cute but if someone needed assistance using the restroom, it would be in the way. & the sink isn’t roll under so I stood to wash my hands but not everyone is able so I did give 4/5 for...
