I tried this place with my husband opening weekend in the hopes we would find a new and fun brunch spot to frequent. Upon arrival, the very first thing we both noticed were the two broken cornhole boards out front. That was sort of a bad look but we dismissed it anyways. When we walked in the restaurant - the hostess said it would be a 20min wait, this was not an issue because we understood they just opened. We noticed there were plenty of tables open and asked if we could just sit at the bar instead as there were also a few seats open there. She said oh yeah sure! We made our way over to the bar and waited another 5 min for them to wipe it down since there were still dirty dishes there. Once we sat - I being a smaller lady noticed how tall the bar was for the provided bar stools. They were way too short for the bar so it felt very awkward eating there. Even My husband who is 6’3 said it was slightly tall for him. I think they would benefit from getting taller seats perhaps - since they are not likely to change the bar height atp. We then ordered some drinks which took another 15 min to get - even though each drink had only 3 and 2 ingredients. (Tequila sunrise, screwdriver). It seemed like their was a lack of a management to make this establishment run like a well oiled machine it has the potential to do. Also, they built the bar too small. The bartender barely had room to walk around and they kept putting all the dishes and bar condiments on the counter where we were eating. It seems they skimped on the funding to make a proper bar here. The food was pretty good - I would say comparable to a good diner. I completely understand they have some growing pains - since they just opened. Overall it was - okay, nothing to write home about. We will give it some time - and allow them to get things in order and settled before we revisit and we will adjust our review...
Read moreDid this place stand out? Kinda… was the food great? Not really. Was the experience worth coming back. Not really.
I showed up a little over an hour and fifteen till close. I was led all over the room because the hostess didn’t know where to sit me. After a few minutes of waiting for my Server, she shows up, without making eye contact, introducing herself or acknowledging a greeting. Our initial encounter felt rushed, awkward and frankly transactional.
She returns with my drinks, then gets my food order. As I’m finalizing what I want, she interjects and tells me they are closing and I need to put in an order because they are closing. At this point, I was an HOUR away from closing. I felt confused and asked if I should just pay for my drinks and leave. She dismissed me and just told me to order anyways. The kitchen is “still running”. So I did. My food looked and felt sorry for being on my plate.
My server then returns and begins apologizing because the clock on their computer has not yet been changed since Sunday! It’s Tuesday!
Lastly, I was forced to pay for my food while I ordered it, because she thought it was closing time. In doing so, she totals my check and places the POS on the table and presses the 25% tip button for me. She did not deserve that! I DON’T EVEN KNOW HER NAME!!! I did not appreciate that. So I changed it to match the appropriate level of service I received.
I did get an apology from my server for realizing her mistake but it was too late. After the harm was...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting Bluebonnet Brunch House on a Thursday morning, and let me just say, this place is a gem! The menu is packed with so many tempting options that it was hard to decide, but I ultimately went with the French Toast. It was nothing short of spectacular. Even my dad, who usually sticks to savory breakfasts, devoured it with enthusiasm—and we didn’t even need the syrup! The flavors were perfectly balanced, sweet but not overpowering.
But the coffee was the real star of the morning. Their house blend, a medium roast, was rich and full-bodied, so smooth that it didn’t need a drop of creamer to enhance it. It’s rare to find a coffee this good at a brunch spot.
We were so impressed with our breakfast that I brought my nephew the very next day. This time, I couldn’t resist trying the Lobster Benedict, and wow—it was a game-changer. The lobster was fresh and flavorful, and the hollandaise sauce had just the right amount of creaminess and tang. My nephew couldn’t get enough of his eggs and was over the moon with the fresh-squeezed orange juice.
Bluebonnet Brunch House has officially become our new go-to spot in Castle Hills. The quality of the food, the incredible staff (our waitress was Bri - who has the best recommendations!) the warm ambiance, and the exceptional coffee make it a must-visit. We can’t...
