I'm sorry - because I know this is likely a family owned business. But it's time to step it up then, because we ventured here last night based on reviews and I'm not kidding you when I say it was one of the WORST meals this family of four has ever had. We literally left full plates behind. We could not get it down. The bread that came when we sat down was promising, but after that, it fell completely apart. We ordered Calamari. As God is my witness, it was like they dumped a box of calamari from the grocery store into the toaster oven and brought it out. They were not fresh by any stretch, and were all the same exact shape and size. They tasted terrible - rubbery and fishy - not at all like good, fresh Calamari tastes. We couldn't finish them. Then came our salads. Literally, I wish I had taken a pic...drowning in Blue Cheese salad dressing. We could not even SEE THE LETTUCE under it. It was like a four year old lost control of the bottle. Which I wish was the worst part, because the taste was clearly a bottle store bought, tart, sour dressing. It was inedible. We put them aside. Last came the entrees. Our son had a single slice of cheese pizza - his favorite. It looked very unappetizing; dry and reheated. Well, he took one bite and set it down and said "that's....not good". We tried it. He was correct. I've had better pizza at Costco. Then came my Alfredo with chicken. It was like Velveeta cheese, only white. It was drowning my pasta. The chicken was not grilled. It was pasty white and cut into small unrecognizable chunks. Inedible. So bad, it was like a reheated Lean Cuisine. My husband ordered Veal Picatta. Inedible. The sauce was absolutely terrible. I could hardly get one bite down. The veal was a tiny piece of meat, curled at the corners, that looked like it had seen way better days. He pushed it aside and tried to eat the noodles. Our daughter had spaghetti and marinara. The only edible meal on the table, but drowning in sauce. Listen, we eat out frequently. We are well-versed on how to make the most of a bad selection. But an entire MEAL? No. And this is the reason for the bad review: because this meal was so OVERPRICED. The veal was $14.99. I mean. Stop. That's insane. That is not even worth $5.99, what they served. This is just like being robbed. $65 for this meal, not worth a single penny of it. Disappointed didn't even cover it. We will not be back and until they change their menu price or the quality of their food - they really have no business selling it. Not acceptable. They should be ashamed because they have clearly gotten lazy and have taken to cutting corners on quality and trust...
Read moreWe moved out of state 10 years ago so it's been 10 years since we've been to Roma's in The Colony. Their food back then was amazing. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Very authentic. We were so excited to go back and order our favorites. Mine the Chicken Carchofi and the Judges Special for my husband. We were so excited to start it off with their bread knots. They still make them fresh but boy did they shrink. They are served with their homemade sauce which OMG is sooo good. Thank God that hasn't changed. Next was the house salad with the house dressing. This was a total disappointment. It had a different taste all together with some flavor I couldn't place. Sadly I couldn't eat it. Now for my Chicken Carchofi. It just breaks my heart to have to say this but it was so bland. I mean no seasoning, not even any salt. The sauce made the dish. I can't tell you how much salt I had to put on there to pull out some of its flavor. One plus is the pasta was perfectly cooked. To say I wish I would have ordered a pasta dish with the red sauce is sorta taboo but the Carchofi was so under par. What a disappointment. At least my husband's dish was hasn't changed but how can you change spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and spinach? We placed an order to go for our daughter. The Fettuccine Primavera. You can get it with the oil and garlic or the Alfredo sauce. Got the Alfredo. My daughter took one bite and the first words out of her mouth was where's the seasoning, it's so bland. She didn't eat it even after she put salt on it. She loved the knots though. So there it is. A once over the top Italian Restaurant has changed so much that we will not make a special, out of the way...
Read moreJust imagine chilling out to some Frank Sinatra tunes sipping on a glass of wine or Italian beer at this kitschy little bar (in the restaurant) with an awesome light-up Leaning Tower of Pisa while you wait for some DELIZIOSO Italian food! I love this place and I really enjoy sitting at the bar that looks like something from the ‘70’s! I have been going to Roma’s for about 10 years now. I am going to make it a point to go enjoy sitting at the bar weekly!
I really love Roma’s salads – DRENCHED in their house dressing! I could DRINK their dressing!! And the yummy rolls…SO BUONO!! Get the pink sauce and dip your rolls in it!!!! My mouth is watering as I write this!!!!!
I have probably had just about every entrée but my favorite is always spaghetti with the works (except I always omit the sausage since I am not a fan). I also really love the tortellini primavera! The veggies are always tasty and I love the garlic and olive oil. Their pizza is ECCELLENTE!! Oh, the desserts! Save room for those! The limoncello cake is STUPENDO!!!! If chocolate is your thing, then get the chocolate mousse cake! SQUISITO!!!!!
The service has always been great and friendly! Go say “CIAO” to the servers and try Roma’s! It’ll be your new favorite...
