My recent visit to Ixtapa left me with a rather unpleasant experience that I feel compelled to share. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience fell short of expectations, primarily due to issues with service and pricing.
One of the most significant drawbacks of the evening was the unprofessional and inattentive behavior of our waitress. She displayed a noticeable lack of interest in providing a satisfactory dining experience. Whether it was neglecting to check on our table or responding to inquiries with an indifferent attitude, the service left much to be desired.
Moving on to the culinary aspect, the food, sadly, failed to impress. Described as mediocre, the dishes lacked the vibrant flavors and authenticity one would expect from a Mexican restaurant. It's disheartening when the culinary essence of a cuisine is compromised, especially in a place that claims to specialize in it.
Adding to the disappointment was the surprising pricing strategy. The menu included a rather exorbitant charge of $2.50 for a dollop of sour cream – a condiment typically provided without additional cost at most establishments. What made matters worse was the lack of transparency regarding this charge, as I was not informed beforehand. Such unexpected charges for basic condiments can be perceived as exploitative and do not contribute positively to the overall dining experience.
Equally baffling was the nearly $5.00 charge for a glass of soda. Such a price point for a basic beverage is, at best, excessive, and it adds to the feeling of being taken advantage of as a customer. Transparent pricing is crucial for building trust, and the omission of this information only served to further taint the overall impression of the restaurant.
In conclusion, I regret to say that my visit to Ixtapa was far from satisfactory. The combination of indifferent service, mediocre food, and unexpected charges for basic items left a lasting negative impression. I hope the management takes these concerns to heart, as improvements in these areas could significantly enhance the dining experience for...
Read moreI ate here three years ago, but I didn’t remember the salsa that comes with the chips until I sit down this time and they brought it out. It has a good taste, but it’s just way too watery. I’m not even really complaining about that. The reason for this negative review is mostly, the burrito was tiny. And the burrito just by itself was $14.95, not a single other thing on the plate. It was supposed to be a ground beef burrito, but it was mostly rice. The glass of Pepsi was $4.75. Before I even knew how much any of this cost, the waitress was very rude. She acted frustrated that I wanted the burrito wrapped up in aluminum foil where I could hold it and eat it instead of laying on the plate with whatever poured on top. This is probably why the burrito ended up so small. Instead of them actually putting everything like the beans and rice inside the burrito which would’ve made the whole thing huge they didn’t put any beans hardly any meat, no lettuce, pico, sauce or anything other than mostly rice inside. Anyway I won’t go back. Taco Del Rio here in The Dalles is much better. BUT it’s a small place. Some people want to hang out around groups of people. If that’s you then IXTAPA might be a better...
Read moreWe stopped in Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant after the end of a 5 day Salmon fishing trip. We are unconfirmed food ‘snobbies’ and typically stay in our campground and cook our own meals. We are fishing for some of the best tasting Salmon you will ever eat for a reason - we love food! So my review of this restaurant will come from someone who loves food, (who doesn’t right)! I ordered a chicken enchilada en mole sauce and a chili relleno. Both outstanding and came with beans and rice. The chili relleno was perfectly cooked and had just the amount of egg battered coating and seasoning. Melt in your mouth flavor and texture! The chicken enchilada en mole sauce was phenomenal! It’s hard to make a good mole sauce that has a good mix of sweet, sense of (but not over-powerful chocolate flavor), heat and smokey flavor and they nailed it! My family had a variety of other dishes and all said their dishes were equally as great. The service we received was also on point! If you are in the Dalles or just driving through and need a place for lunch or dinner, I would highly recommend checking out the...
