I've been here a couple of times and it's just too inconsistent, in a bad way. One visit will be great, and the next will be polar opposite. And that encompasses the service, the food, the temperature of the food and the quality of the food. I just can't give a recommendation for Snooze a.m. On our first visit, we were greeted and seated rather quickly. Our server was a great presence and attitude, greeted us right away and made us feel really comfortable and welcome to be there. She didn't give off any trippy vibes or anything but pure hospitality. She brought us out our coffees and waters really quickly and was able to bring us extra creamer in a spare mug, since our table had to share it. She took our order and brought out the food. We had the Strawberry Shortcake pancakes and the Mexican breakfast burrito. Both were very good! The pancake stock came with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. The pancakes were buttery, thick and taste like they were made from scratch. They came with a side of sugared bacon strips which were excellent. The breakfast burrito was of a generous portion and had a strong green salsa on top which made for a fun breakfast. On our next visit we showed up and waited more than a half an hour. They weren't sure how to seat people in order and things seem kind of chaotic. The server that came to our table was kind of a trippy gal and seemed a little bit bewildered... I'm not sure? We ordered our coffee and water and ask for extra creamer. She stated that she was scared of the kitchen staff, and they would be angry with her if she brought out more than a thimble of creamer. Her solution was to literally bring out 10 tiny ketchup thimbles of creamer to our table which was just nonsensical. From there she pretty much ignored her table until after a wait she brought out our food. Our food was literally room temperature or colder. My wife ordered the blueberry pancakes which were made with some sort of a blueberry dehydrated raisin and the pancakes were total opposite of delicious like they were before. They did not taste like they were from scratch. In fact, they didn't even taste like they used butter or eggs. I ordered the eggs Benedict and there's nothing like good old cold egg yolks to kind of make it slightly nauseous. Also, the bacon this time was opposite of the last time. The first time we had delicious bacon that was made with brown sugar. This time was neglected dry bacon that had no sugar on it and actually was opposite and just disgustingly salty. Then came to requesting extra pancakes syrup because we didn't want just one thimble which again her solution was to bring out multiple Thimbles of pancakes syrup. The whole visit was chaotic and really just a big disappointing turn off. And several times we had to ask other waitresses for coffee refills. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Snooze am for a fun or satisfying dining experience. It is too random and when it goes bad it goes really bad. With the immense selections of other restaurants in The Woodlands to get breakfast at, I would recommend going...
Read moreI'm a travel nurse and typically go to the Snooze close to where I work in College Station. My mom had never been, and I love the food so I was excited to take her. We both ordered hot latte's, but by the time we received them they were more like luke warm. My mom prefers her coffee really hot, so she mentioned it to the server asking if they could warm it up in the microwave, but they informed her that they didn't have one so they would just make her a new one. It took a while for her to get the 2nd one, and by the time it came out the temperature was exactly the same. She kinda just chuckled and drank it anyways. By the time our food arrived, nothing was hot. Not even Everything was barely warm, but we were both so hungry we just decided to eat not wanting to make another complaint. I had ordered the CrabCake Benedict and OMG French Toast, she ordered the benny duo and shrimp and grits.(Brunch brings out the big backery...and I'm not ashamed.lol) The food tasted good, it just wasn't hot. The server brought us our checks and my mom mentioned the food being cold, just so they were aware. No expectations. Mind you, the entire time we were eating, no one came by to check how the food was anyways, not until we were basically finished. After my mom made the comment about the food, the server responded and asked why we didn't say anything, but we simply replied we were hungry and didn't want to have to wait any longer, and that the food didn't taste bad, it just was cold. Server said she would let someone know and see what she could do, and my mom once again said she didn't want anything...just letting them know. A man comes over, takes my mom's card and proceeds to check her out. Not saying anything or acknowledging anything. My mom mentioned that the server had gone to check on something, and the man was like "Yeah, I know". And she's like ok. So he proceeds to check her out, then cashes me out. So then afterwards my mom asks if they spoke about what happened with the food, and he was like "Yeah, it's handled" or something along those lines. This entire time we just assumed it was another server helping our server out. Wouldn't know because the man never introduced himself, barely even made eye contact and just treated us as if he was trying to get us out of the restaurant. My mom then asks him his name (because he was very much rude), and he stated his name was Brandon. She then asked if he was the manager and he stated yes. So then she thanks him and he walked away, but his whole interaction with us was very rude, very cold and very dismissive. I worked in the service industry for 10 years and never have seen a manager so just blatantly cold towards customers in that way. My experience as a server is part of the reason we didn't send the food back. I was just extremely disappointed with the overall experience, especially because I was so excited to take my mom to a restaurant she had never been that I had good...
Read moreWe were greeted warmly by our hostess and were seated promptly. We were greeted by our server who basically brought us coffee and took our order. Never saw her again.
I asked for grits and she said they have cheese in them that could not be removed. The red flag went off in my gut, but I figured they probably just made a big batch with the cheese melted in. No biggie, grits take a long time to cook depending on the grind.
I should have trusted my gut. The grits were super disgusting and had the texture of gruel. A bowl of badly prepared oatmeal has more texture than this. I could see strings of fresh cheese added in. This was either an instant product from the microwave or sous vide; or someone really does not know how to cook the grits. I had to flag down the barista to get a refill and before I could say I have decaf she smirked and said I hope you don't mind that this has caffeine, smirking even wider.
Between the staff gossiping and yelling at each other across the restaurant, management included, we felt like we were in an episode of "2 Broke Girls".
My husband liked his benny and the hash brown outside was rather dry but the very center was moist, as if they precooked everything then steam table items with the longest cook times; or it was under a heat lamp, either way it was dry and heavy on the stomach.
I wasn't offered a box for the grits, no one asked me if they were okay. No one cared about anything but my credit card being approved.
Update:
Dear owner,
I have read your reply. I spoke to you in a professional manner. I do appreciate you illustrating my point about the over all the staff maturity. I will contact customer support and go from there. I still think your hostess did an outstanding job despite all of the immature drama going on.
By the way, I hold a MS in Hospitality Management from Johnson and Wales University, with my passion area being that of food and beverage. Memories are always remembered and shared. The good and the bad ones; which is why I provide feedback. A company will stumble, make no mistake in that. How the company picks itself up and proceeds from there is what makes a company...
