San Marcos Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Thomasville

I wasn’t going to eat here until I read Ebony Taylor‘s one star review of this place. I had to see what she thought was the worse service, worse chips and salsa, and most water down drinks she’s ever had. I had never heard of this place except when I Googled nearby Mexican restaurants.

This is my first hand experience:

5:00pm walked inside 5:03 served chips and salsa and received my drink. Put in order for carne Asada tacos. 5:09 tacos arrive at table. Very flavorful and well cooked. Loved the sauce provided for the tacos. Just the right amount of heat for me. 5:21 table cleared and waiter brought my check. 5:23 walked out door.

Grand total of 20 minutes. The cashier whom I presume is either the owner or manager was extremely polite and thanked me at least three times for dining there.

My conclusion is that Ebony is a huge crybaby who has only left three reviews and all of them are One Star. Secondly she must have “meth mouth” if she thinks the food here is flavorless. My guess is she’s an entitled brat. If I owned this restaurant I would be glad if she never came back.

We ordered fajitas to share and they were the "normal" good. The reason I only gave 3 stars was the salsa. The first dish of salsa looked deceptively delicious but had a hint of sweetness and just wasn't that great. We did eat it but then they brought out another dish of salsa. The 2nd dish was COMPLETELY different salsa in a COMPLETELY different dish....why? Well I believe the 2nd salsa was cheaper to make b/c it looked and tasted like they opened a can of tomato sauce and poorly seasoned it. Either way, both salsas were not good. I was skeptical just because I usually don't see many cars there; HOWEVER, THE FOOD WAS SPECTACULAR!!! Went after church with daughter and son. Friendly staff and very clean inside. Low lighting but i think that's on purpose. Kids and I were happy (danced a bit in their chairs😄) and had good conversation. Seated immediately and order taken within 5 min. The chips and salsa was free but of course i added queso(🤷🏽‍♀️💓)Food came out in about 15 min. Nice portions and great flavor. My 9yr old son is the toughest critic of Mexican food here in Thomasville and he said it should be where we go every week after church 👀😍😆 to eat....
