After a long rough day, I decided to go get some barbecue one of my favorite meals with my wife and my little children 5, 6 and seven years old. We were sat down at our booth and we immediately ordered the appetizer sampler platter. My wife made it very clear and specific that her husband Me and our children do not do well or like anything spicy that everything had to be completely mild. Not even close to what happened… They brought us a sampler platter that had the ghost pepper super spicy sauce rub, I immediately was breathing fire, I’m spitting my bike back out the waiter who’s taking the order from the table next to us says oh I forgot to tell you that was a mistake. We served with the super spicy stuff by accident. He continues to refill water at the table next to us on the other side by the managers, rushing outside the kitchen to our table. No one picked up that platter off the table, resulting in my five year old her on the plate and starting to show that she could taste the heat. I became super sick turned bright red drink a lot of milk ended up throwing up in the parking lot all while the manager promised my wife that our Me would be calm and we would receive gift cards for future visit because of the mistake that could’ve been much more serious that was made. The manager never brought us any gift cards towards the end of the meal as I was still outside not feeling well there was no remorse or apology as my wife and kids left. The situation basically turned into a couple employees watching me from the front door, smoking a cigarette while I’m still on the side of the parking lot Showing clear signs of stress from the extreme spice.
I waited almost 2 weeks or so before we’re leaving this review and had to think about it and at the end of the day if one of my children had eaten the super spicy wings we would’ve had hospital visits and much more of us. I understand mistakes are made the lack of response once that was noticed by staff and the lack of follow-through is beyond unacceptable and creates an unsafe environment for families to bring their children to famous dave for barbecue.
I hope that they change their methods and find a solution, As a diehard barbecue lover, I’m not sure I’ll trust going back. Which is very unfortunate as we used to...
Read moreI'll keep this as short as possible, but I will open by saying very good food, good service, but more importantly, Famous Dave's Thornton is a keen supporter of the local community.
Without giving too much detail, we have a dear friend who has committed his professional life as a fire/medical first responder to the North Metro community. He is an individual who has not only saved countless lives, but as importantly, brought countless lives into the world and has provided a level of comfort to so many people on the worst days of their lives.
Additionally, while not on duty he has volunteered thousands of hours project managing, gathering donations and gathering volunteers to help improve the homes of foster families in the Metro region to provide a more comfortable, safe and nurturing home for these children. Truly, he has given his entire life to others.
Sadly, he was recently diagnosed with an aggressive disease that is debilitating beyond words. We discovered a he a had a "bucket list" item that has always been on his list since he was a kid. We were able to arrange that bucket list through a local racetrack and it was absolutely amazing. When we found out that Thornton Famous Dave's was a sponsor, we eagerly brought our entire crew of friends and family to Famous Dave's for dinner.
End of the day, I will end where I began... Not only was the food great, the service very good and offered an excellent dinner to cap off an awesome evening, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, Famous Dave's Thornton sponsors other local entities who are truly interested in helping the community and giving back to those who have gladly given up so much for the benefit of the rest of us.
I know some folks don't appreciate major chains, but I can assure you, Famous Dave's Thornton is first and foremost a supporter of local interests. Please consider this place as a great option for a good BBQ and helps those who help others.
A hearty THANK YOU and an easy 5 star from...
Read moreI gave this place 3 stars soley because of their staff service. How ever I would still recommend coming to this location because their BBQ is insanely good. I called in during the covid crisis late October to see if they required a reservation and they said it was first come first serve which is always a plus for me. From the moment it took only about 3-5 mins to be seated with a party of 7. The hostess was awesome and so were the guys and gals picking up dishes to clean the tables. I had to rely on them to ask for extra napkins or for a refill because they waitress that night did not come by after taking out order. Even then we had to ask a dish personel to get us a water because I believe about 10 mins went by before any one approached us for drinks and again they only came because we asked a dish personel to get some one. After that the food did arrive rather quickly and was delicious they rich and savvy or sassy sauce was delicious. We got the 65.99 family platter and a stack of baby back and in my opinion the food greatly out weighed the bad service. Probably took about 30 mins for any one to return for further service and close to the end of the meal I asked for a second alcoholic beverage and it pretty much arrived after I had paid so I sat there and finished my drink with no food. I guess in all if you go to restaurants for service don't go here or take a chance and go because maybe it was just a bad possibly low staffed night. Now if you go for good food I greatly recommend this place definitely...
