I want to thank this restaurant. Thank you to Las Palmas in Thornton as they have opened my eyes to the possibilities of what can fall under the definition of "food". I ordered 6 different items and even though I hadn't consumed anything in the 22 hours prior the grotesque spread arriving before me, somehow I wasn't able to eat more than half of the items. Don't think that means half the food was good, in fact far from it. Those were just the items in which I was not overcome by my body's biological revulsion.
Now before you label me as a picky critic, I want to give you a taste of my culinary exposure. I have experienced many flavors and cuisines in my years on this fantastic earth and this "food" most reminds me of a meal I dined on roughly a year ago. I was at my home on a Wednesday afternoon when I realized my kitchen sink would not drain. In an effort to save money I decided to replace the clogged drain pipe myself. At some point during the battle the section of rusted cast iron pipe split over my head and poured a fluid neither quite liquid nor quite solid over me. As the smell of sewer gas filled my nostrils I though I had reached new metal plane of disgust that day. That is until Las Palmas managed to elevate my understanding today.
Now before you go, let me ask you a question. Have you ever had a ground beef taco where the cook had never heard of the word seasoning? I wish I had the pleasure to eat such a taco tonight. Miraculously the visionary cooks at Las Palmas in Thornton determined a way to extract the natural salts in the muscular tissue of a cow in order to serve a taco even blander than the packaged ground beef I cooked on my radiator last night! In conclusion I highly recommend this restaurant to those who would like to expand their horizons beyond what you think is...
Read moreI honestly wish I could do more but there quality has been declining over the last year. I love the green chili and the taste of the burritos but what we get out of it isn't worth it. I've been going here since I was a little kid so at least 10 years. Thought the price is cheap and hasn't changed the quality of product has. I wish last Palmas would consider a price up of $1 or even $2 I would be more than willing if they went back to their old quality where they actually put a good amount of beans in the burritos. I've asked for more beans paid the extra $1 and it didn't taste like the same beans. The guacamole was neon green and didn't taste like guacamole at all I think it was powder guacamole . The carne asada was more a steak then a thin steak and we asked med rare and first got well then rare. The tortillas were definitely microwaved. I've given the place a couple tried in the last year's in hopes it would be better but I'm very disappointed because this was the only Mexican restaurant I even wanted to go to but it is no longer worth the gas and time. The entire restaurant could use a upgrade or at least seats refurbished because there is homes in all the seats. This is the number 18 I believe. It's 2 smothered bean burritos it tasted good but was all tortilla. This is the most beans of the burritos and that's because I had just squished it to cut a pieces off. This is at least the 3rd time my burrito came this way in...
Read moreDecided to try these guys tonight. Went in about 730 on a Saturday night. Wasn't very busy. The main dining area was clean and cozy. The young man who took my order at the register was very friendly and welcoming. He said it was his last day, though. I ordered 3 items. The mini rellano appetizer, combination nachos and vegetable fajitas. The rellanos came with a side of green chili. Vegetarian I'm pretty sure, there was no noticeable meat. The taste was good. It's not spicy but had a decent flavor. The rellanos alone were pretty good. Nice and simple. The nachos were the star of the meal. They came with chicken and beef and all the fixings. The guacamole is very good! Taste delicious and fresh! Good avacado flavor! Decent portion for a decent price. The fajitas were a huge let down. I got the vegetable fajita, and they were literally barely seasoned green bell peppers and onions only. Far cry from the vegetable medley I'm used to from other places near buy. They were a little overcooked and pretty bland. The beans and rice that came with it were pretty good, though. Definitely made the meal better! One thing that was VERY GOOD was the chips and salsa. The salsa was very flavorful and fresh! Good flavor, good spice. Overall, I'm not sure I would go back, there are too many better...
