The short version of my review is this - Daron is a thorough professional, provides amazing service at an astonishingly low price, and is completely unlike any other service tech I've ever used. For those who think this sounds like hyperbole, and want the supporting details, here they are: My freezer had stopped defrosting, effectively turning it into a second refrigerator section and melting all my frozen foods. Reluctant to indulge in a wasteful toss-and-replace-it mentality, I got rid of the ruined food, and went through the long process of removing the rear panel and de-icing the coils with a hair dryer, feeling very clever for having saved myself what I was sure would be an expensive repair job on an 18-year-old fridge that still worked fine otherwise. It worked great...for about 2 weeks, then it happened again. After repeating this cycle a few times at 2-3 week intervals, it was getting old and I was about ready to ditch my fridge and drop a lot of money on a new one, to avoid repeating what was becoming a frustratingly frequent new 'hobby' that was taking up way too much of my free time. Still bothered by the wastefulness of junking a serviceable appliance, I called one of the big appliance-service companies. They told me they could get to me in about three weeks if I could be home for a 4-hour block of time, chosen by them, in the middle of a specific weekday. When I heard the 'minimum' amount they would charge for a service call, let alone the price of the parts they thought I "might" need, it confirmed my fear that the cost and inconvenience of a repair job that wasn't guaranteed to fix the problem wasn't worth it for a fridge this old, even if it was more environmentally sound, so I steeled myself to spend money on a new fridge I didn't really want and shouldn't really need. Luckily, someone I knew told me about Daron, and I asked him about the problem. Without seeing my fridge, just hearing the make, age, and a description of the problem, he was able to tell me what the problem was and what it would cost to repair. I had forgotten about the whole encounter for a few weeks (until it was almost time to thaw out the freezer yet again), when I happened to run into Daron and he told me he had the part I needed and could install it whenever was convenient, if I was still interested. I asked if he could do it the next day, a Saturday, since I didn't really want to use up a vacation day to get it done. Expecting to hear that wouldn't work out and I'd be stuck waiting for several weeks, I dreaded the prospect of spending another day-off getting another cramp in my hand from pointing my wife's hair dryer at the freezer for an hour or so. To my pleasant surprise, he said that he would work me into his schedule and asked what time was best for me. He showed up when he said he would, without me waiting around for 4 hours to avoid missing him, and had the freezer defrosted and fixed in less time than it routinely took me to defrost it. More importantly, he did the job, including the parts, for less than half the price the big repair chain quoted me just to come out and look at it, at their convenience, and I didn't have to miss work to get it done. As if this wasn't amazing enough, when he was done, I told him about a burner on my gas stove that had stopped lighting because it wasn't getting any spark from the igniter, and asked if he could come back and fix it when he had some time. Literally five minutes later, the stove was lighting as well as it ever had, without me having to make or pay for a separate service call, and at a price I can only describe as ridiculously low - not even a fraction of what I expected, or would have been willing to pay. To top it all off, he told me to let him know if either appliance gave me any more problems, and he'd come back and take care of it. I don't normally write reviews, but if you have an appliance that needs fixing, and want to be guaranteed of something other than high prices and needless inconvenience, I highly suggest calling Appliance Science - I...
Read moreFrom the moment I reached out I received excellent customer service and care. When I called, Deren was attentive in listening to my feedback on what was going on with my dryer and was able to walk me through what he believed was likely the issue causing my dryer to not heat. He was transparent and honest about his experience with my particular model of dryer. He was able to provide a cost estimate and fit me in to his schedule almost immediately. He offered me a same day time and next day time, but ultimately was able to squeeze me in earlier.
Deren arrived right on time and went to work immediately. He showed me and talked about what he’d do and almost before I could sit down had already disassembled the whole dryer to further show me what the likely fix would be but some other potential issues he’d look for if it didn't work. Luckily it turned out to be exactly the issue he thought and was done in 15-20 min. total. He then took the time to examine our dryer exhaust duct and outlet outside and make suggestions for a better set up in hopes of preventing this same issue in the future.
I had reached out to some other services earlier that day where I was quoted $380 for this job. Others I saw that had a $100-120 just for a service call and additional $ for labor. I was only charged $150 for this service which was a obviously a huge positive. There was no negative in the entire experience. From the customer service, honesty, communication, responsiveness, and promptness, it was all an A+. It’s evident when working with this company that you’re in good and...
Read moreAbout a year and a half ago, the igniter on our oven went out. We had a company come and fix it. Charged us $350 to do so. It went out again a couple days ago so I called Appliance Science based on reviews. Daron talked through the issue with me on the phone and said it was more than likely the igniter again. He gave me a couple different options for parts (aftermarket or OEM) and what the price difference would be before he even got here. Both options were still significantly less than what we were charged by the prior company. We opted for the aftermarket part understanding that we could run into this issue again down the road. Not only did Daron educate us on the difference but he taught us how to replace the igniter (super easy) and gave us another one just in case. He could have easily charged us the same amount as the last company and we wouldn’t have known the difference. Now that we’re a little wiser, we know what types of questions to ask if we ever need appliance repair again. He charged us more than a fair price for his services and we are so grateful we found his company. Hopefully we don’t have any more appliance issues but if we do, we now have a go to guy. He’s one of those standup guys that is happy to help people, even if it means a little less money for him. The world needs more...
