I was excited that I found a pretty chill looking brewery near the house, but I ended up being pretty disappointed. The beers I tasted were mostly alright, a couple were good. I had a flight. There were many beers to choose from so I can't say for everything, but it is nice to have so many options. When I ordered my flight, I also ordered some food. They weren't too busy when this happened, buy they did get busy, so I was trying to be understanding. After an hour, my food had not arrived (I am pretty sure it was sitting in the window for the last 30 minutes I was waiting at the bar). But after an hour, I had finished my flight and I had to leave never receiving my food. What was really frustrating is that of the 2 servers, one kept asking the other to call in extra help, and the other kept insisting they could handle it, when obviously they couldn't. I have worked the service industry and I understand trying to power through, but they were clearly overwhelmed and it was affecting everyone. When I left, it was $26 for a 6 sample flight, which I think is a little pricey. I like the idea and the atmosphere, but the prices and the server refusing to get help ruined it for me.
Edit. I received a response to my first review. The owner suggested that "Yes", my food was not there for the first 30 minutes I waited, without addressing the final 30 minutes that I saw food I presume to be mine just sitting in the window being ignored. Even if it wasn't mine, waiting more than an hour while food surely ordered after mine was sent out. Additionally, even if it wasn't mine, someone's food just sat in the window for 30 minutes. From there, the owner just put forth excuses without showing accountability. I tried to be understanding to the poor visit I experienced while offering a critique. Instead of acknowledging the issues or holding any accountability, it seems the owner is fine just trying to push any concerns back at his customers. This is the first time I have ever lowered a review, but this behavior will assure I will never return or recommend this establishment.
Edit again. I just realized that the owner responded to my edited review. I am very frustrated by the response, yet again. I have been sitting on this for a few days wondering if it is even worth bothering with. Finally, my ego got the best of me. Mostly, I want to address your comment about inaccurate information. I guarantee I waited for my food for an hour and that some food sat there for at least 30 minutes (It may or may not have been mine). In response to your comment about why I didn't ask the servers? I did once, and was assured it was coming. After that, it was pretty hard to communicate with the 2 staff members present, because they were not behind the bar except for quick stops to pour the beers they needed. Trying to get their attention did not work out very well for me. Sure, more servers might have come in afterwards, as you are stating. I am a little confused though, because in the first response you provided to my initial review, you suggested that you were short staffed due to a family issue. I am not sure why you deleted your first response. On to my biggest concern, maybe you have me confused with someone else. You also suggested you comped my entire ticket. That just is not true. The server took off the food that I never recieved, but I never received a 100% comp like you stated, nor did I want one. While I think the beers I drank were overpriced, I still drank them.
I got some poor excuse about how "I genuinely thought I was right, but not". Still, there is no real accountability. Look at some other low reviews, you don't seem to be able to accept negative feedback. You suggest you have the best intentions, but here you are changing your story, and accusing me of either incompetence or dishonesty. Will we keep battling on Google reviews because you will not accept negative feedback? As for reaching out to you, if this is how you act, why should I be...
Read moreMy husband and I popped in for a lil peak and taste of this place and we had no idea how much fun was in store. Our waitress was a doll and super fun to chat with. We ordered our first flights of 6 (yes they do flights of 6!) They were all so thoughtful in flavor. We giggled and talked about the menu and cracked up at the beer descriptions. Eventually, one of the owners came out and joined us by sharing some stories and suggestions and before you know it, we had mapped our second flights. VAN OAK! It stopped us in our conversation. What a beautiful beer. We decided it was a beer for old friends. It tasted like a silent nod of two people who were resting after a rich lifetime spent together. We were in love with the feelings this beer brought forward. It could stand alone but we decided this beer is not for anyone meeting for the first time…it should be reserved. The night fell on their patio and their twinkling lights were wrapping us up in a perfect gratitude filled hug. We didn’t want to leave but home called. Thank you so much for an experience. Thank you for your variety. Thank you for...
Read moreGreat neighborhood brewery with food! There is a variety of beer styles to choose from making for a great location for groups with varying tastes and to just try something new.
The location is about 3 years old and am exciting this establishment appears to be making it through the pandemic. I had not heard of this location despite living nearby until my brother took me here.
Their food menu is interesting with "squirrels" on the menu. The squirrels are simply a yeast pastry dough pocket with a variety of mixed savory and protein ingredients (much like German runzas or bierocks, and yes these go great with beer). This brewery's twist on this popular German entree are very good. My brother and I shared a sample plate of squirrels and enjoyed each one. This was also enough for each of us to split one for a lunch type engagement.
There is a whiskey tasting room at the same location but is a separate business. There is some outdoor seating in a comfortable setting and a back room I did not visit possibly for large groups.
I look forward to returning. This should be an...
