Originally we are Cafe Rio super fans. We are originally from Utah, and have been supporting Cafe Rio since they opened their first location in Utah. We are talking... like eat at this place 3 times a week! Since moving to Colorado, one year ago, we were STOKED to see that a Cafe Rio would be opening close to our home. WOW... what a HUGE disappointment. These guys need to take a team trip to Utah and see how it's suppose to be done. We have eaten at this location at least 20 times, always hoping for the pleasant, fast service, delicious savory food, and friendly staff. Hoping that because it's a "new location" they were just learning. NOPE... this location flat out sucks. We are done feeding our Cafe Rio addiction (at this location anyway)
Staff: Super rude, SLOW... were talking no one in line and It still takes me 20 minutes (sometimes longer) to walk out with my food. Have you been to the other locations, Northglenn??? They have it down. You guys are all over the place!!! Last time I remember Cafe Rio, I didn't have a bunch of rude, careless highschool students making my food for a buck. Also... yes my "Free Meal" and "Special of the Day" comes with a free drink. At least at EVERY OTHER LOCATION in this world. So please don't make me argue it every single time. Not to mention they don't prepare the food right... which brings me to:
Food: This location doesn't prepare any of the dishes right. One time our rice was straight salt, had to throw the entire dish away. Another time they forgot beans on our Pork salad when we specifically asked for black beans. Their famous dressing is WAY too spicy. The famous sweet Pork that I have always LOVED tastes like regular BBQ pork I could make in my crock pot at home. When asked if I wanted cheese on my salad (suppose to be parmasen) I got handfuls of grated chedder cheese plopped on top (sounds picky... but an example of how well I know and love my Cafe rio... the small things matter!) Oh and next time you make my salad... I'd love some actual bight size peices of lettuce rather than the whole head of lettuce on my plate. I mean seriously... I had to shred the lettuce by hand when I got to my table. It was ridiculous and just flat out lazy.
Save your money and buy a $10 salad...
Read moreI was ordering the steak salad and the staff didn’t put a sufficient amount of steak. I asked to put just a little bit more. She added 3 strands of steak. I went and payed and I noticed they added a side of extra steak. I went up to the cashier and asked why they charged me for extra steak when the staff only put 3 little strands of steak. I didn’t think they would charge for that small amount because in previous cafe Rios they wouldn’t charge me. The cashier went to ask the manager and the manager came back and says “ So you don’t want to pay for the extra meat” and I said no I don’t think it should be counted as extra because the staff didn’t put in a tong full of meat. (It was only 3 strands of steak) he then proceeded to say “well next time you come in we won’t give you extra meat” with the biggest attitude. I’ve never experienced this kind of treatment and I’ve been going to cafe rio since I moved to Utah in 2008. Then I said “ no that is unnecessary for you to say that. And he says “ well we won’t give you extra meat”. He then refunded me. We sat down and started eating, I felt uncomfortable and wanted to get information on how to talk to a supervisor and I then asked one of the staff to give the info and the manager came to us and he says that I can go online and write a complaint and then started to walk away and said, “enjoy your free extra steak.” He also asked us where do we work and told us how would we feel if someone wanted something free. So uncalled for. He seem like a type of person that wants the last jab on an argument. I was never rude when I asked that I wanted a refund. We decided to leave that establishment. The manager name was CHAD. He was very rude and I don’t feel comfortable going to this location again. I’ve also sent in a complaint through the cafe rio website. I was asked if I wanted a call back on this incident and I’ll be waiting for that. Also, the grill where they heat up the tortilla for the salads/make quesadillas was disgusting. It looked like they haven’t clean it for days. When she threw the tortilla on the grill to melt the cheese, there was old burnt food on it. The rice was undercooked and the...
Read moreI'm hoping this reaches the ears Of Corporate. Cafe Rio you are cheating your customers. Take a page out of the Playbook of Qdoba and stop nickel and diming their customers. It used to be that if you visited a Cafe Rio you could get anything on your meal at no additional cost with the exception of guacamole. That's no longer the case. New policy is that , quite a few of the things that you see on the other side of the glass when you are ordering is going to be an extra charge. A customer doesn't like to hear the phrase, I'm sorry sir that will be an extra charge is that okay? At Cafe Rio expect to hear that phrase over and over again when you are ordering. That's not the way it used to be before. Just do us a favor Cafe Rio and increase the cost slightly for all of your entrees but include everything in that entree that a customer wants added. For the most part Qdoba does not charge extra for all of the menu items that you see on the other side of the glass. I just visited the Cafe Rio in Northglenn and was thoroughly disappointed. They wanted to charge me extra for tomatillo ranch, for Queso. Cmon.make it make sense. The food there is pretty decent but I'm going to be honest I probably won't go back. I don't like being nickeled and dimed. Mark my words Cafe Rio you won't survive much longer with this type of policy of charging extra for so many different things. The Restaurant world is a tough business's to survive and thrive in. Sad to say that soon we may not longer see Cafe Rio existing much longer because of bone head policies like this due to the decision making of Corporate. I will be telling all my friends and colleagues to go to Qdoba. They will feel welcomed and they won't get...
