Note, I tried to email them but there is no contact on their website. The one listed on Facebook does not work. Here is the email I drafted. Obviously I am not pleased. "Good day, I hope this is reaching the correct person. I wanted to reach out to you as I have been a resident of Thousand Oaks my whole life and have enjoyed dining at your restaurant for over 25 years. We dine at Cho Cho San several times a year and have never had a bad meal or experience. Once in a while service may be average but never disappointed in the meal. We always dine with at least 6 family members so you can easily see we have spent thousands of dollars at your restaurant and have always suggested your establishment to friends and family.
Today was a typical order for us. We ordered take out for 7 people, called it in on Saturday for a 1 PM pick up on Sunday for mothers day. Our bill came out to $228 dollars. When I arrived at the restaurant at 1:05 the gentlemen ahead of me was upset, his order was wrong, and he was cursing at your host. After he left your host took a phone call and then asked me what name my order was under. I told her is was under Morris Finestone and she retrieved 3 bags for me. I paid and was on my way.
Upon reaching my home, gathering the family, and sitting down to eat we realized that we were missing 4 missing items. I called back, a young man answered, and couldn't help me. He said He had to speak to the manager and call me back. I had to remind him to take my name and number down. I also had to remind him to write down the missing items so he could figure out the problem. He said he would call back shortly. After ten minutes without getting a call back I called. I asked of the manager and a lady answered. I asked for the manager and she said she was the manager. I told her who I was and she immediately told me she gave my all my items. I then proceeded to go over the order and told her that she was wrong and that I was missing items. She then said no i got them and they wrote all the items names on the containers. She was very rude and short with me on the phone. I then told her again she was wrong, i didn't receive them, and I would be happy to come down there with all the packaging and show her. She was again trying to tell me that I was wrong but I cut her off and said to her that I wanted my items, I understood that they made a mistake and gave my food to someone else, I understood that they were just being cussed at by a customer and a little out of sorts. She begrudgingly said well it will take sometime, her attempt to get out of making my order right. I said tell me what time it will be ready and I will be there. She said 45 minutes (for 4 sushi!). I said i would see be there.
45 Minutes later my 30 year old son went to pick it up with his fiancee so I could stay with the family. When he arrived she began to tell him that they had gotten the order right. She was mean, curt, and abrasive. He told her just give me the food and we will be out of here. He got the food and came home.
He came home end everyone else got to eat. Needless to say as the rest of the family came in to eat we realized that we were actually short 5 items, not 4, and I didn't receive my fried rice as I had ordered.
I am really taken aback about the behavior of your manager at the Thousand Oaks Store today. We all understand that doing take out changes the dynamics of the restaurant experience, and I know if we were seated in the restaurant this never would have happened. If a manager was that disrespectful to me in person in the dining room everyone would see it. Thus, it would never happen. I find abhorrent that the manager would treat me and my son in the manner she did.
I leave it to and the management of Cho Cho San to make...
Read moreHad an early dinner today with family at Cho Cho San 8/7/2022 at about 330pm. I have been to this place before at later times in the evening when it was really busy and had good experiences, but today was different. It was not busy. 1st Experience: when we were seated, one of the waiters( young chubby Hispanic guy with glasses) , gave us 2 menus. There were 3 of us. I asked for one more and he said “No, we are short on menus” Really??? The place was almost empty. He also gave me a weird obnoxious look like I was bothering him. I really think he was just too lazy to get us another one. So I get over it, no problem. The actual waiter that took our order was really pleasant ( tall skinny guy with light curly hair). I am giving physical descriptions to help out management so they can take note. So we all ordered our food.
2nd Experience: My wife receives her Ramen soup warm, not hot like soup should be. Ok, so we asked to please heat it up.
3rd Experience: Then I received my Fried Katsu Chicken sandwich, but it wasn’t a Fried Katsu Sandwich. It wasn’t our waiter who brought me my food, it was that obnoxious rude person with the glasses. I told him this was not what I ordered. I showed him the menu and he just stared at the menu like I was lying to him or something. Instead of saying, “Sorry sir, we’ll get you the right order”, he says, let me bring you Katsu sauce! I’m like really?? I told him no, PLEASE bring me what I ordered. So he took it back. 20 minutes go by. Remember, this is only like 4pm now, and the place is still relatively empty. I noticed by the kitchen door the obnoxious waiter (chubby guy with glasses) was talking about me with another waitress ( a chubby Hispanic girl) , because they were staring at our table. Finally our original waiter ( the nice one), brought me my correct order and apologized, and I told him don’t worry about it. 4th Experience: Mean while the chubby Hispanic waitress is still staring at our table giving like dirty looks. I’m thinking why? What did we do? So far by this time, our dinner experience was not good. It was hard to enjoy our meal. My son told me he even had a “strange vibe” there, especially when that chubby girl kept staring at us. And there definitely was a bad vibe there. My past experiences were not like this, this was strange. Then, just before we were finished eating, that chubby waitress came walking towards our table, and walks slowly past us and gives us a dirty look! I could not believe it. Either the owner does not care about it’s service, or they just do not know. And that is why I am writing this review. What happened to good customer service? I think those days are gone, sad to say. On the way out, as I past the front door, I saw the chubby rude waiter ( talking with a young Asian waitress, maybe supervisor) and I said “thank you”, and he gave me very nasty look. So guess what, I’ll...
Read moreNot as impressed. We were referred to by one of the members of our party. She had dined here several times with her son. She ended up not being impressed by her role and had to return it and exchange it for something new. I ordered the yellowtail belly sashimi and it did not taste fresh. I'm a little pickier when it comes to my sushi and have had the experience of having really fresh sushi compared to some that has been sitting around for a little while. I also ordered the yellowtail collar and was immediately disappointed. It really didn't have any flavor and it wasn't cooked all the way. The hot sake was light and although I usually order a second or third I opted not to order anymore. The ambience was lovely and the restaurant well-appointed. Customer service was not the best as we waited for a while to even be attended to. When we were ready to leave it was again difficult to get someone to bring us our checks. When we originally ordered we asked for three Separate Checks and the waiter wrote our orders separately but the check came in all combined. The lady that brought the check over said "oh we never separated them" and we explained to her that yes we had asked for Separate Checks before ordering and that the waiter actually wrote our order separately in front of us. She was just going to make an excuse without even trying to accommodate us even though we had made it simple by telling them of the separation when we first got there. Upon walking in there wasn't a very large crowd. I believe this might be a popular lunch spot but I'm surprised that at 6 p.m. there wasn't a larger crowd. That might have been what affected the quality...
