I've been comin to Love Sushi for years! Unfortunately, this place seems to have changed course. Although the food continues to be delicious, hence the 1 star, the positive attributes of this restaurant stop there. We stopped for a late lunch on a Sunday, the place was relatively quiet and we had no trouble securing a table for our family (approximately 12 people). The service was terrible, and it was very obvious that our server, Michelle, was not in the mood to do her job, and provide prompt courteous service. Our server responded in gibberish and was quick to cut us off in the middle of questions and requests (including our request to split our check 4 ways). Sodas were flat, and our server reluctantly removed the unwanted drinks from our table as she mumbled away. We waited around 25 minutes before the first dish made it to our table. By that time, our server was gone and replaced by someone else (we didn’t see Michelle the rest of our time there). When we received our checks, everything was split incorrectly, and we were still being charged for the flat sodas we refused. After about 3 attempts, the server finally got our checks sorted. To our surprise, Love Sushi now charges 18% gratuity. I immediately confronted the new server about this charge, her response was “it is state law, we have to charge, the computer adds it automatically”. I let her know that I wasn’t going to pay 18% gratuity for the bad service, and that it was a ridiculous amount to pay. She then changed her story and said that Michelle had entered it and that there was nothing she could do to remove the charge and that we had to pay, because the computer doesn’t let her change anything because it’s state law. RIDICULOUS!! At that point I was angry and chose to pay and leave. The moral of the story is, customers now have to pay 18% gratuity at Love Sushi because it’s state law, and since it’s state law, servers can give terrible service without the threat of docked...
Read moreI had a heart wrenching, terrible experience here. With my employer I am a home security dispatcher for the cities of Malibu, Venice and Pacific Palisades. On the side I do food deliveries because it is amazing extra income and a great way to discover new places and restaurants. I came in to pick up an order for delivery on my app on 8/29/2021. Upon arrival I was not greeted or acknowledged whatsoever, so I stood waiting patiently for about 6 minutes when my eyes fell upon a table filled with to-go orders and tickets. I figured this was the designated pick-up table like most restaurants have. I walked up to the table when an employee finally acknowledged me. He had black short hair and glasses. He looked at me with disgust and said "GET OVER THERE" signaling me to go back by the front door. I said " I am so sorry i thought this was the designated pick up zone, I was standing over there for a few minutes and no one helped me so I figured it was supposed to be an independent pick up, sorry!" He is still looking at me with disgust and says "GET OVER THERE" treating me as if he was telling an animal what to do. I almost broke into tears and said to him softly "I am sorry but you don't have to speak to me that way." He then told me " JUST GET OUT OF HERE". I have never felt so embarrassed that someone was treating me this inhumane. The tone of his voice was just heart wrenching and his look of disgust was terrible. I felt sick the entire day and even this morning I can't stop thinking about it. Please do not go here. Please do not support people who treat others...
Read moreOh dear. The first few times I ate at Love Sushi, I loved it! I soon became a regular. But my most recent visit was utterly disappointing. My spicy tuna tasted sour and fermented. It was literally fizzy.
My salad was missing its usual ingredients and the lettuce was completely different. The rolls my boyfriend I regularly order tasted like nothing we’ve ever had before.
We noticed there is one chef in particular (blue Dodgers hat) who does a GREAT job. But on this day, we were served by a sushi chef we hadn’t seen before. He was noticeably rude to the wait staff, too.
Our food was so bad we only had a few bites and had to let the server know we couldn’t possibly eat this. The management did not think to comp our meal and we paid $70 for garbage we could not eat.
We used to like the happy hour here and their rolls seemed pretty fresh despite the sometimes inconsistent service. But we didn’t mind—it was endearing and homey.
But after the awful meal we had last time, we have not been...
