Fratelli's NY Pizza — Restaurant in Thurmont

We have ordered from this restaurant frequently and thought they we're better than the other Italian pizzeria across the way santition wise. I am very discouraged of late with the quality of the food and the service that has accompanied it. First we got our pizzas delivered with result being that it looked as though it had been tossed around with the toppings no longer on the crust. The second unfortunate incident occured when the called in order was taken by a fairly rude employee refusing to deliver because they were busy and then did not give my husband the entire order that I had paid in advance for. Last but not least, my third experience is not as... clean? Our pizza had a nice blonde hair in it, which I tried to overlook, but when I got to the twig in the crust I couldn't eat another bite. I will likely start using the chain pizza location that has better standards than this 'mom and pop' place.

So just spoke with the owner of the restaurant and found him to be extremely apologetic. He kindly offered to refund our pizza and to give us a free one. I am willing to give someone another chance after he has gone out of his way for me. I will see where this goes from here, but I have now changed my rating from 1...

Hidden Gem in the middle of a fast food interchange. Let’s be clear, my expectations were high and I blame the reviews. The service is amazing, and clearly people REALLY REALLY enjoy their jobs here. We were serenaded by singing and jokes from the kitchen. ( thank you big guy cook) It’s refreshing to eat in a venue that nurtures its employees self expression. This is a gift, and a direct reflection on management. (Unless it was the management entertaining us in the back lol) Friendly, wholesome down to earth people. Love it. Mozzarella sticks (6) with marinara very good. Great coating and filling done to perfection. White pizza not well done as requested, not REAL Garlic kinda disappointing …did I eat it? You bet your a$$ I did. Remaking 3/4 in the broiler will be a great finish to my day later. So now the ultimate question… will we go back ? ...

I'm a very harsh critic of food. My husband and son tell me. I'm a "Karen" a status I embrace wholeheartedly and a title I wear proudly. The pizza at Fratellis is excellent. We always get it well done so the crust isn't soggy but the dough is proofed in house, you can tell by that delicious yeasty chewy bite with the delicious charred bubbles. The sauce is not too sweet, not too processed. Just perfectly crushed tomatoes, in their purest form. Cheese is good quality and they NEVER skimp on toppings.
