Simply Asia — Restaurant in Thurmont

I was a bit disappointed the wonton soup was above the normal wonton flavor full I had some other vegetables in it other than just the wonton however I ordered Thai Basil beef I was excited to see it on the menu hadn’t had it in a while when I ordered it And the waitress never bothered to ask me how hot I wanted it but I like it fairly hot by the sighted because I love the mix of the hot in the basil is wonderful spicy hot but sweet flavor to it I got my dish and there was absolutely no basil in it it was unlike any Thai basil beef so I’m not quite sure that’s really what it was I definitely had the heat at the chili in it but absolutely no in the basil flavor at all had asparagus and snow peas which good and crispy not they were not over cooked which is great but like I said clearly was not Thai basil leaves absolutely no basil in it whatsoever and even if they use some type of flavor it’s supposed to be basil flavored I have cotton zero basil .unfortunately I’m gonna give them two stars because of that it was a one a little higher priced menu and I’m sure because of the basil but I did not get what I ordered. I also had to wait until I receive my entrée to get my cup of soup which was kind of odd would’ve been nice to have the soup before I had my entrée so the waitress is little wet behind the ears but I’m sure it’ll...

Regarding the food- Unfortunately, this was some of the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The shrimp fried rice tasted stale, as if it was cooked in used cooking oil. I do not think the dish was freshly made. If the dish is fresh, and I am incorrect, there was far too much oil saturating the rice and an odd aftertaste (as if the dish had gone bad). The Hunan chicken had a very watery gravy; all the chicken was overcooked and extremely dry. Additionally, we ordered a chicken egg roll. The outer shell was crispy and tasted as expected. The filling in the egg roll tasted stale, freezer burnt, and was very dry. This may be an enjoyable meal for some, but our group ended up trashing the food shortly after delivery.

Regarding the service- Upon calling the restaurant, they indicated the chicken being dry and overcooked was my personal preference rather than a genuine issue. The staff offered a refund for the fried rice; however, refunds are only done in-person with cash. I thought this practice was quite odd, as I had never heard of this before. Food was good tasted good but hot and sour soup had a good flavor but was very sparse on ingredients tofu was chopped in a fine dice and was little none in it also it only had about 8 piece of very small and I mean small cut up mushroom in it and last bit not least the egg steamer that I personal love about hot and sour soup was almost non-existent pepper steak was good but more onion few peppers and not a lot of steak but for 16 for the pepp. Stk and like 7 bucks for the H@S soup I expect it more flavor was good on both but I think what's happening here is what's happening a lot of places they either have to cut the amount of ingredients they put in or raise prices personally I would rather they hold on to the integrity of their dishes and simply raise the price I'd rather have to pay a little bit more and get something that is what I expect overall good restaurant nice people food was good just was surprised about as few ingredients that was in it considering the price I do recommend them if you're there go check them out form...
