I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at the Mountain Gate Family Restaurant on 133 Frederick Rd, and I must say, it left a lot to be desired. From slimy ham to small burgers and raw steak, this place failed to deliver on multiple fronts.
Let's start with the slimy ham. It was utterly unappetizing. The texture was off-putting, and it had a strange slimy coating that made it difficult to swallow. It lacked any flavor or appeal, leaving me thoroughly disappointed.
Next up, the burgers. I couldn't believe how small they were. I ordered what was supposedly a regular-sized burger, but it looked more like a slider. The patty was thin and dry, and the overall presentation was underwhelming. I left feeling unsatisfied and craving a substantial meal.
Now, onto the raw steak. I understand that some people prefer their steak rare, but this was beyond that. It was practically raw, and not in a good way. The meat was tough and chewy, making it nearly impossible to enjoy. It was a culinary letdown that left me questioning the chef's skills.
Moving on to the jiggly cake. I've had my fair share of desserts, but this one was simply bizarre. The cake had a jiggly consistency, which was not at all appealing. It lacked flavor and had an artificial aftertaste that lingered unpleasantly. It was a dessert that I couldn't wait to finish, just so I could move on.
As for the Offaly weird fried chicken, I'm not quite sure what they were trying to achieve. The chicken had a strange taste and texture, with an odd combination of spices that didn't quite work. It left me feeling uneasy, as if I had just consumed something that wasn't meant for human consumption.
The weird fries were the icing on the cake, or rather, the disappointing addition to an already lackluster meal. They were greasy and limp, lacking the crispness and flavor that I expect from good fries. It felt like they had been sitting around for far too long before being served.
Lastly, it deeply saddened me to observe child labor at the Mountain Gate Family Restaurant. It is both unethical and illegal to employ children in such a manner. I couldn't help but feel a sense of outrage and disappointment that the establishment would engage in such practices.
In conclusion, my experience at the Mountain Gate Family Restaurant was nothing short of disappointing. From the slimy ham to the small burgers, raw steak, jiggly cake, Offaly weird fried chicken, and weird fries, the food fell far below my expectations. Moreover, the presence of child labor added a distressing element to the overall experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience, and I would advise potential diners to explore other options...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWould never eat here, complete inability to understand basic instructions and no understanding of allergies!!!! My daughter was refused nearly everything due to a minor seafood allergy on a school trip. She cannot chow down on a lobster without hives. I am anaphylaxic to seafood and have NEVER been refused fried foods except by horrible places with no hygiene. I ate onion rings and fried chicken for lunch today from a local place that serves fried fish all day everyday. I am not dead, and I know several people ordered the fried cod. Seafood is iodine based in most instances. First off, per every health department Ive found (both US and international) seafood/fish is never to be cooked in the same oil as other foods. Furthermore they refused and didn't check with adults as to the terms of my daughters allergy. Lazy, lazy, lazy employees who do not understand allergies or the rules in place. If you are using the same oil for seafood and regular you should not be in business. This has been the same over 40s years of my allergy never been an issue. This includes international travel on multiple continents with my children. Next point... they demanded the kids and chaperones remove negative reviews before continuing on the trip. Everyone said the food was awful but they can handle a large group. Obviously they cannot if they have to threaten my daughters BFF and several others to keep the rating. DO NOT GO HERE, DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ BECAUSE THEY FORCE BAD REVIEWS TO BE REMOVED. My daughter wa separated from her chaperone and ignored. Terrible place with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give ZERO stars I would. VERY VERY VERY RUDE Employees. I talked to 3 different employees and every last one of them were extremely rude and ZERO HELP. the last one I talked to who was a male I believe was a manager or the OWNER was HORRIBLE. i was asking a simple question If I could speak to a family member who works there and guy was nasty about it and hung up on me. I was sitting in the parking lot the entire time but am currently 7 months pregnant and was having what felt like contractions so was unable to get out of my car and walk in. I ended up walking in and of course it was the guy that I had talked to on the phone. I TRIED to explain why I was calling and didnt walk in and he immediately cut me off told me that was my problem to deal with it myself sho'ed me away with his hand and walked away. What if I was going into premature labor IN THE PARKING LOT and thats why I was calling to speak to my family member? If it's a company policy that you can't put a certain employer on the phone then that's all they had to say. They did not have to be extremely rude and nasty and hang the phone up on me. And you should never disrespect a CUSTOMER like that IN FRONT of other customers. I was stopped out front as I was leaving by a group of people who had just ate dinner at this place and THEY apologized for witnessing how I was talked to by this manager or owner or whoever the hell he is. And they proceeded to tell me that they come here often but will not be returning after witnessing how they handle things especially with a women who is 7...
