TLDR: Dont go here if you're looking for uranium glass. The vendors take advantage of new collectors by charging way over genuine market value, and they also falsely label other types of glass as uranium. The business didn't like my review, so they left a catty response in which they admitted to overpricing and not knowing anything about the difference between 2 types of glass.
A summary of my experience with this business: -I left a 2-star review saying beware to new collectors since this business charges 30-40% higher for glass than any other antique shop in the area. This is my genuine experience with every glass item I've come across here, and I am a very frequent antiquer. They also falsely lable manganese glass (very common) as uranium glass and then upcharge for that as well. -The business then left the catty response you can see below, bringing up a specific and personal event that I didn't talk about in my original review. -My response back is that it's extremely evident that they're overcharging since you'll see the exact same glass pieces here every time you come in, even though they are rare pieces that should sell immediately. It's because they're charging way over market value for them. The owner referencing a reddit post as to why they can't tell the difference between 2 very different types of glass is laughable. It's a rookie mistake to confuse the two and irresponsible to upharge instead of figuring it out. -Since they want to bring up specific and personal experiences, I will explain what actually happened. They have a piece of glass that I've been eyeing for over 2 months now, but I haven't bought because they wanted $100 for it. I own many pieces from this particular line of glass, so I know it's way higher than current market value. I made an offer of up to $75, but they would only do a %off offer instead of considering it's actual value. I bought a taller and very similar piece from a nearby antique store for $45 just the other day. I left the review afterward since that moment made it clear to me that they are only interested in getting the highest price listed on eBay. Nothing is actually selling for that price,...
Read moreMy fiancee and I both love finding antique malls in our spare time and happened to be coming back from a weekend getaway on the Oregon Coast and found Curiosities on Google. In short, what a true gem this place is!
We found so many unique items for various projects we'd had in mind for our home. When we started noticing the use of old wooden doors as partitions between vendor booths I went to the front counter and was greeted by the very friendly owner. I asked if any of the doors were for sale or if not where he gets them. Not only did he tell us where he gets them and the average cost but he said, "You know, I think I have a few extras in my warehouse in back", and he took us back there.
Unlike some storage warehouses I've been inside, he opened the doors to an antique enthusiast's paradise. A neatly organized space full of more gems like what's already inside his shop. We proceeded on to look at the wooden doors available. After pulling out the first door, the door behind it, multiple layers of dirty white paint cracking revealed itself in all its glory! It was EXACTLY what we were looking for! And to make things even better, only $30!!
So, needless to say, we will both be back for additional hidden gems the next time we find ourselves in the area. Thank you so so much for such an incredible experience and your hospitality. You and your business are truly...
