I'm so glad we ended up at Kitty's! We wanted to watch the sun set from the lighthouse, so there weren't many options for dinner that late on a Sunday, but Kitty's was open and sounded fine. Also, being cat lovers, we liked the name, though I guessed it was just named after a person named Kitty. But no! It's run by cat lovers and there are a few cat references inside. Very tasteful and not overdone, but you'll definitely notice if you love cats. The place is quite large, very deep. There's a front dining room, but then you can go past the kitchen on the left and bathrooms and a small slot machine room on the right, and in the back there's another room with a bar, more dining tables, a pool table, and a stage set up for a band. There was a cat face on the kick drum cover. The fellow who took your order and was tending bar turned out to be the owner, Joel. We talked to him about cats and art, and the next thing we knew, we were getting a tour of the entire place, which delighted and amazed us. We were then quite fortunate to be introduced to Phil, the artist who painted the drum head and is also the chef of the restaurant across the street from Kitty's. Next thing we knew, we were getting a tour of his restaurant and seeing a bunch more of his awesome art. Really friendly, welcoming, fun folks. Kitty's is a comfortable and fun place that I'd love to hang out at if I lived around here. The food was good, too! Joel's wife Dana prepares the food, and my BLT with macaroni salad exceeded expectations. The macaroni salad was made the same way I make mine,...
Read morePack your patience when dining here! 7:45pm we were greeted by a gal who wasn't the happiest. It didn't take long to understand why. She was the hostess, waitress, bar side help AND cook! Food took 40 minutes for a salad and 2 sandwiches. We were one of 2 tables in the front dining section. She literally prepared each plate in the entire place one by one and delivered them to the table then would go back and make the next item. The "manager" walking around was offering no help and was peculiar beyond words. We had to ask him for our check to avoid interrupting the cook and he was less than pleasant or grateful for our patronage. The place is eclectic and just odd. I would spend your money elsewhere. Did I mention how unsanitary it is for the chef to be running around the front of the house then back to kitchen while...
Read moreThis place has a restaurant in the front and a locals bar that serves food in the back with set up for live band on weekends. They had a happy hour for taps and taco Tuesday special, so I convinced my husband to go here despite the cats on the menu. No cats in the place, thank goodness, the images on the online menu had us worried, but it was actually one of the cleanest bar restaurants I have ever seen. I thought Terri, the bartender, was aloof at first, but she may just not hear well. She ended up being quite friendly. The locals were nice and friendly. One even bought a round for everyone in the bar since it was his birthday. Good selection of local tap beers and wide selection of spirits. Can't speak for the food since we only had the $2 tacos for Taco Tuesday, but the tacos were simple but good. We...
