What a bad experience! #1 when me and my husband walked in everybody at the front desk was in their phone. #2 Our waiter was the tall skinny Asian guy with glasses. He was rude and rushing us to order. We never got his name #3 Food was not good at all... Me and my husband went there for the first time. We both ordered the king crab boil. The crab legs was cold in the the inside of the shell as if they pulled them from the refrigerator and didn’t warm them up all the way. The waiter told us the king crabs comes with 1 whole leg and 1/2 of leg but we got 1 leg broke in half. I love spice so I got the medium sauce because the waiter told us it was spicy and besides, it did have 3 peppers next to it on the menu. It wasn’t spicy at all, not even a pinch. In fact, the sauce/seasoning taste like salt water with a little butter. The wings taste like they cooked them in burnt oil. #4 My husband had to wave down another employee walking pass to get some lemons, bibs and a bucket for the trash. #5 We didn’t get part of our order and we couldn’t let the waiter know because he never stopped by our table to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything. #6 my husband had to get up to find him and ask him for our check. When he did bring it, he stood there while my husband went in his wallet to get the form of payment. When the waiter brought back the card and receipt, he stood there while my husband signed it. When my husband gave him the signed copy, he looked at it and said “Sir the tip isn’t included in the bill” I said we know it’s not included. What the waiter didn’t know is, depending on the restaurant, my husband will tip cash. Not only so the waiter can walk away with their tips but he doesn’t like that small separate charge coming out of his account. If we need to tip over $50 bucks then the tip will come off the card. Mind you, the only time we saw the waiter is when he took our order and when he stood there waiting for us to pay. I politely told my husband to put his money back in his wallet and let’s get out of that place. The nerves of him to think he deserved a tip! The tip I really wanted to give him he wouldn’t have liked it. I will NEVER go back there again or recommend that place to anyone.... No wonder why it wasn’t full of people...
Read moreThe food was simply amazing! It also comes out within 10 minutes or less of ordering!! I will definitely be back. However, the service was bad.
I mentioned to the server that it was our first time yet she didn’t seem to care. We overheard another server telling her table about how the table has a bucket for empty shells, or that there’s a bib in case we do not want to mess up our clothes or that there are plastic gloves. We wished our server would have informed us. The other server even supplied her table with crab leg openers. Our server did not, we had to ask.
It took about ten minutes to get another beer. The food was spicy yet we didn’t have any waters to drink while waiting for our beer from the bar. The waitress also never took away old glasses so we had empty beer bottles on the table. When we finished eating, the waitress did not clear the table so we could enjoy the rest of our beer. She didn’t offer dessert or another drink, she simply put down the check. We had to ask her to clear the table. We had to ask her for a dessert menu. She was very polite but I think perhaps this was her first serving job. Also when asked her opinion on what to order, she said she doesn’t eat seafood.
Overall the food is outstanding, I got the combo seasoning so it was rich, buttery and full of flavor. I felt the portions were abundant for the snow crab & shrimp $26.99 special. I added sausage to my combo and it had the perfect amount of Cajun flavor.
I really hope this place stays open despite the service. I think people will come back for the food but when you’re paying almost $30 for a plate, you expect the service to be good as well.
UPDATE: After trying both Hot N Juicy Crab in Tinley as well as Cajun Boil and Bar in Orland, I’ve come to the conclusion that Jumbo Crab is the best in the area! The amount of delicious, seasoned food for the price really beats other competitors. This place has become...
Read moreThis was our first visit to the restaurant. We are seafood lovers and were excited about getting some authentic seafood. Coming in we saw people at the bench tables with paper on the tables and people wearing gloves and. Plastic bibs. We were open to this… Could be fun. But our experience was that it was never explained to us how our food will be presented to us and how you go about everything. The servers seemed to have very little knowledge. When we received our food it was on a platter and encased in a plastic bag with air in it. When we figured out how to dig into it it was filled with a lot of hot sauce that spilled out onto the platter and so we just put our food out on the platter with it. It was a mess. Had we known ahead of time how it was going to be served we could have tried to avoid all of the liquid spilling out. They had a roll of paper towels that had no perforation on them so we were continuously trying to tear off paper with our messy hands. The food was just fair and taste. We are not people that eat a lot at dinner, yet we were still hungry after we ate it and ordered some fried oysters to satisfy. The oysters did not taste good to us. We did decide that we will not be going back there. It just was not a pleasant...
