Village Inn-Titusville, FL- 4 Stars
“O-oh, back on the chain gang (ho-ah)...” – The Pretenders
As you might be able to tell from the opening quote if not the name of the restaurant to be reviewed in this post, I am back in chain restaurant mode. Hey, I know it's not for all of us, but enough of us so that it needs to be done. This time my random place generator spewed forth Village Inn located in Titusville, FL.
They have establishments in 18 states (including Alaska) with the majority of them in Colorado, I guess stoners like their food? Well, with that many eateries in that many states, they must be doing something right. Pulling into the sparsely filled parking lot, I have to admit, some doubt crept in, but I pushed it aside and entered.
The place was clean, friendly, and exuded a homey welcome. As I was taking my seat, Rebecca, the waitress took my drink order. Now that is prompt service! She then proceeded to cheerfully and professionally answer all my questions and then took my order of one Ultimate Skillet, a Short Stack of Pancakes and a Reuben with a side of steamed broccoli.
The Ultimate Skillet contained frozen, not fresh hash browns, ham and veggies. However, for a chain restaurant, I am impressed with the execution as it was pulled off flawlessly with perfectly cooked eggs. The flapjacks were a scrunch overcooked, but oh so buttery and milky on the palate.
What can I say about The Reuben? It looked great but was not all that good. I think it might be an ingredient issue as it certainly was not an execution issue. Maybe it was the end of the meat or maybe not as high grade as I am used to, regardless, it was not tasty in the least. The side of broccoli, on the other hand, was fresh, crisp and delightfully prepared.

Read more“Toxic Environment”
I love me some Village Inn. It’s my guilty pleasure restaurant. On my trip to the Cape I convinced my party to eat at this location in Titusville.
This place needs a major renovation. The carpet is absolutely disgusting and is tearing up by the kitchen. The restaurant is extremely cold and humid . As a result there is black mold all over the place, from ceiling tiles to window shades to the edges of the air con vents... which were slowly dripping on seats and tables.
We were sat under a vent near the kitchen and complained of water dripping from the vent and got moved as a result. It didn’t seem to matter to the staff as they sat the very next party where we just moved from. The non carpeted floors are also disgusting and there is dust everywhere. I dare say this is one toxic environment. It didn’t take long to effect the couple of us with allergies.
I will say one positive about the facility, apart from water dripping from the ceiling from moldy vents, the tables and seats appeared very clean, at least more so than a typical one.
Staff/management needs a proper retraining. We were sat without silverware and the complete lack of concern over the healthiness of the establishment for its staff and its customers is horrendous. However the staff is extremely pleasant.
The food came out timely and despite not coming out prepared exactly as requested. Regardless, the food was very tasty as is typical for Village Inns, and my doubting party was very happy with their food.
I really want to be able to give a great review, at least better than this. What is needed, perhaps, is a restaurant/ franchise owner who cares and knows how to run a...
Read moreMy wife and I went tonight to have a bite to eat. We were met quickly and seated, and given drinks and menus. Our server, who I am going to say was Makayla, and I'm sorry if I'm getting her name wrong, unfortunately my memory doesn't serve me as well as it use to,came by took our order and being very attentive to our needs, was always making sure we had everything we needed while waiting for our meals. When she brought them out in a reasonable time, they looked amazing. The cook did a great job with the food, and presentation. The food was perfectly cooked, and we so enjoyed it. Malaya was very good at being patient with us eating, and very attentive to our needs, asking once we're done eating our meals,if we'd like dessert, which wife n I had already planned on some carrot cake each, but unfortunately we were so full from our wonderful meal, that we did get dessert, but to go,at this point, lol,we were full,as I know I mentioned this earlier. Anyway, once we got our desserts and check we went and paid, which I made sure to leave Makayla a 20% tip,as she did such a wonderful job,and I wish I could have left the cook a tip as well,it was well deserved. Thank you all for a wonderful meal and experience, we both...
