Where to begin? Two words to sum up our experience: supremely disappointed. The iced coffee at $4 each tasted like brown bitter water. The server very kindly exchanged our coffees for mugs of hot brew but it was lackluster to say the least. For somewhere that prides itself on having gluten free options and having the word “toast” in its name, you would hope that the gluten free toast would be good. However, the commercially made gluten free bread was barely toasted on our egg Benedicts. My husband had the tradition Benny and it was a couple slabs of bacon, hollandaise and poached egg. That was $18 and was served without sides. I had the$19 Irish Benedict which was two pale pieces of bread with firm-yolk poached eggs and bland hollandaise and a mound of what they call corned beef hash (in actuality it was chunks of corned beef —which were delicious — and some small potato bits. No onion, no pepper, no other seasonings of note). The hash didn’t have any hollandaise and again no sides were offered. To frustrate us further, even though the menu doesn’t list gluten free bread, if you poke around their website you’ll find one line saying they carry it but not that they’ll charge you $2 extra to sub for regular bread. I know this is common practice among restaurants, however it would have been nice to know how much it costs before ordering. Lastly, the gluten free doughnut was fine but nothing to write home about and for $3 each, you’d hope it would rival the amazing Maine potato gluten free doughnuts that cost the same (can be found all over Maine). They also advertise gluten free muffins but first thing on a Saturday morning, they didn’t have any. My husband and I were so excited to try the self-proclaimed “best breakfast in town” and left completely disappointed and frustrated that we spent so much for such a...

It is easy to see the great amount of work that goes into each prep item, and every dish! the irish bennies were so good, and an expertly prepared hollandaise oN point! and plenty of it!! a variety of textures in each bite, *properly poached eggs, and super clean kitchen that is easily noted with a quick glance behind the line. i had a hard time not reaching across our table to sample the other dishes that we ordered; Reuben’s Reuben and baked French toast with blueberry. 10/10 for visual appeal! seasonings and flavors were outstanding. we will definitely return for more!! THANK YOU, for doing it right!! On another excellent customer service note// we thought we were arriving well before closing time; we weren’t. these guys were 15 minutes out from closing, which we would normally avoid with intent! ..you know those restaurants that scoff at the idea of another ticket so near to closing the kitchen, and you’d end up with whatever scraps are leftover on the line, and shoddy execution at best. NOT These guys! ZER0 hesitation in taking our order upon walking in the door; not even a hint that they were about to try to close. EXCELLENT PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE! i think this was our 3rd time here, and it’s been better than the previous experience each time. Toast & Eggs just earned some...

I want to give this place 5 stars but I had one issue. I totally understand the struggles restaurants are under right now. No problem. We placed our own order, waited an hour for food which was not too much of a concern. What I was bummed about was my eggs Benedict came with hard boiled eggs, not poached, obviously from sitting too long in the window. No problem, I promptly went inside and asked if it would be possible, after waiting an hour, to have the kitchen make a poached egg for the Benedict instead of hard boiled whenever they had a minute.. I thought that was a normal request. The guy got an attitude and said “we’re doing our best ok!” And then basically brushed me off, didn’t ask for my table number or anything. Never followed up and obviously never received poached. Idk. Everything else we ordered was great.. but I can’t believe I got an attitude for asking for a poached egg instead of hard boiled for a Benedict. Bummed me out because I patiently waited, left a nice tip, and they had no interest in fixing the problem or just being polite about it. Other than that.. great food, a bit pricey, but cool place!!...

I’m ashamed to say that this weekend was the first time I’ve eaten at Toast and Eggs. What a loss on my part because it was absolutely fabulous! I had the Irish eggs Benedict with also a side of biscuits and jam. All homemade and all OUTSTANDING! It was the best breakfast I have had out in years. The biscuits were giant and buttery and perfect, the jam was sweet and flavorful and the corned beef hash was definitely homemade and super deliciously. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and sat on top of homemade biscuits and dressed in creamy hollandaise. Yum! I will be thinking of this breakfast till the next time. Also I love that they have mostly outdoor seating. The pricing I think was on par for the valley. Irish Benedict was a little pricy at $17 but everything was homemade which I think makes the price more worth it. I spent $48 but I bought the Benedict, the two biscuits and jam, coffee and a mimosa. I think it was fair.

I wish I lived in VT so I could visit more often for breakfast. Delicious options and fresh too. (Try the donuts!) We were staying locally on the returning portion of a long vacation and after finding this place for breakfast the next day, we had to go again the next morning before our next stop. The food was so fresh and prepared with care. We sat inside and when it gets busy, it can be a bit warm. There was ample seating inside and out. The service was easy and convenient. You order and pay at the counter, take a number, and await your food at a table. They have a very creative artist designing beautiful illustrations on their chalkboard. I'm sad I missed the finished illustration of a rooster eating pancakes. Don't miss out on this place, it's a hidden gem in the valley.

I was in VT on a business trip and the lodge where I stayed overnight suggested Toast & Eggs. I'm glad I went in! I went on an off-season Sunday and they were playing the Commitments album on the speakers. The crowd was light. No wait. Plenty of seats. Grab the menu at the front, make your choice, and order at the register. They'll deliver the food to your table! All of the staff were friendly and there were smiles all around! I can tell they love where they work. A very welcoming place. I had an amazing Western omelet. The portion was perfect and so I had a side of bacon and home fries. Their bread is fresh and Texas sized. Don't forget to ask for the home-made jam. And, of course when in Vermont, grab a bottle of maple syrup.
