Made an order for pick up online a couple of weeks ago. I followed the steps online to order and after paying I got a confirmation email and pick up time. Showed up to pick up and they had nothing and they claimed I had order somewhere else even though we showed them the email with their address and time for pick up. By the way, the place had no customers. My husband then heard one of the girls tell another one that of course she did not have any online orders, the machine was turned off. As I walked to the restroom I could hear them laughing, maybe it was at something else but made me feel that they were laughing at the situation. Still, the manager insisted that I must have placed the order for another day or a different location instead of apologizing. Of course I argued that that was incorrect but she kept making excuses. Ended up waiting an additional 25 minutes for my food, it was somehow still my fault even though she would said sorry but there was a "you must have" followed by it. It was my first time eating La Madeline. Food was delicious and exactly what I was looking for since I was in recovery from surgery. But the situation made it a very bad experience. Damn, she could had at least thrown in a crossiant or cookie for my troubles. I was not looking for free stuff or a free meal. We all make mistakes , but a simple sincere apology after learning of their mistake and we'll get cooking would had made a big difference instead of blaming me for their problem. Also, you have to order through grub hub in order to make an online order, this made it hard to get a refund. We were at a loss since we couldn't just get our money back and...
Read moreThis is the second time I've eaten here. Today I opted for the salad/soup sampler so I could try more than one food. I wasn't sure about getting hot soup during the summer in Texas, but I enjoyed the deep creamy flavor of their potato soup. The chicken salad with grapes and slivered almonds is good. The fresh fruit bowl with melons, pineapple and grapes is a nice blend but most of the melon bites weren't quite ripe enough so they were a little too firm. Mango tea is cold and refreshing. I also got a cherry turnover, it was a nice flaky pastry but the cherry filling tasted like canned pie filling. They have a beautiful pastry case with 40 very yummy looking pastries to choose from. The drawback is that it's a few feet past the register where you place your order and pay for it. So the customers behind you have to wait while you step away from the cashier to pick the pastry/dessert you want and then you return to the cash register to tell them what you want and to pay for it. Maybe it's just me not wanting to inconvenience the other people in line, but I didn't feel like I could take the time to look at all the options to choose which one I want the most. It's set up like a cafeteria so that after you pay, they give you a tray that you take with you as you walk down the line where they plate your food, then you fill your glass from the sofa fountain and carry your tray to a table. It has a spacious dining area and I enjoy their food but it feels disjointed with the cash register set up...
Read moreSo this is a place that you go to get a sweet treat and it will have that, although it has a full meal and you order, and they serve your table after going through something like a banquet line. Line. I don't think it was always this formula, and it's okay I suppose. For ambiance. I will say that their pastries are delicious, and I had one of their versions of a Monte cristo which I absolutely love all the time, however, I forgot to go back and get the fruit sauce that should have been drizzled all over the whole thing because it was in banquet line next to the drinks. The drinks. I simply forgot to and the amount they brought with the strawberry preserve was not enough. My husband did a half and half order of a sandwich and soup, he liked it but he was surprised at his order. I did expect the French onion soup to be a little more cheesy and the bread toasted like a baguette. Baguette it was not. I have come here probably once a year over the last many years. I always try new things, and it's an okay stop for this plaza. When you're looking for a sweet tree, something relatively quick, and if you don't mind the open seeding in the front, there's generally a space for you. So nothing amazing other than maybe their croissants, but I'll be back, you should at least try it. See what you think. Yourself. I do generally like the crepes and...
