I have eaten at Los Arcos on numerous occasions with my wife and family over the years. All and all it is has been pretty decent food and service for the price. But nothing prepared me for the visit my wife and I made there this evening...
This evening we went in and I ordered a martini and I guess I wasn't clear with the bartender. He made a typical martini... but with ice cubes in my drink... uh, okay. He says well you did say ice and I did, but I figured he knew and was going to shake and strain it off; a well vodka martini, no vermouth, olive juice, and olives. But like I said a miscommunication on my part I did tell him ice and he put ice cubes into my drink.
Anyways, service was good nothing out of the ordinary just relaxing and enjoying the evening with my wife. We had the usual chips and salsa, ordered a little caso to go with it. We then made our orders, food came out no big issue with anything all very normal and waiter walked away. My wife ordered Mojarra Frita and began to hit it with her fork. I had the Burritos Dinner. I had not yet touched my plate when all of the sudden a small German cockroach crawls out from under my plate and takes a nice leisurely stroll across the table over the straw of my martini and over the edge of the table. I sat stunned... completely!! "Look, LOOK, OMG!!" I said to my wife "Did you see that? I know I am not drunk... I haven't even finished one martini!" We quickly called the waiter over and explained what had just happened. He immediately got the manager and the manager came over and we explained it again and all he said was "I'm sorry, would you like us to box it up for you to go?" I was even more astonished that he would even suggest me taking their food home! Are you kidding me guy; really!?
Needless to say they have lost a long time customer forever... because I will never return again.
I would suggest that anyone visiting Los Arcos to be very leery of the place. These types of roaches like to crawl into stuff and come home with you and once they are there they are very, very hard to get rid of! You must keep it very clean and exterminate...
Read moreThis is one of your old classic Mexican food places. It has charm from not trying to be modern or fancy. The tables are always clean and not sticky. They have a fantastically large menu. Good prices. I ordered the meatless plate which came with a tostada, cheese enchilada, queso, rice and beans. Very hearty, delicious, and filling. My husband ordered the grilled catfish, also nicely done, but what was really rocking were the French fries that came with it. Service is really good. Our beverages were constantly refilled as well as the chips and salsa. If you want mariachis, come on the weekends. (Please tip them!) They also have happy hour and holiday specials like 5 de Mayo tequila shots and margarita specials. Also, read the chalkboard up front for their daily specials.Note: Beware, seafood-allergy people, they grill their fish on the same grill where they grill their shrimp. We went in time when no one had ordered shrimp yet, so we were safe. We've been patrons for almost 30 years. Oh, and then, down a couple of doors over, there is the carneceria, La Preferida, where you can get some really good pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread) and more. There is some table space for wheelchair, but I would call ahead especially during peak times. I walk with a cane and didn't have a problem going between tables. Their entrance is double wide, but not automatic. Handicap parking right at the door. Thanks for reading my review, I...
Read moreGreat place for Mexican food in Tomball!! Good prices! It’s nice & clean! We have a lot of Mexican Restaurants in the area and in my view Los Arcos is consistent. I have tried them all and I always enjoy coming back here. It’s my favorite in Tomball for Mexican food! Their salsa is really good and just a perfect amount of spice..depending on your spice level. Green salsa is also just as good with great flavor (you might have to request it). I’ve had several entrees here and all have been delicious! I’m taco & enchilada kind of person so I like a combination plate that has both so with that I love the flavor of the taco meat here. So many Mexican restaurants there tacos have no flavor….but here they do! Also, AMAZING cheese enchiladas! So many great menu options and delicious choices here! I love the staff, Claudia, Martha, and Maria just to name a few but all of the other amazing employees are so nice, friendly, knowledgeable and make you feel welcomed here. It’s a nice feeling. The manager is also friendly and kind and of course the Owner, Felipe is always so gracious and kind to always come out and shake hands with us, visit for a bit. We just love him and love supporting his business! Thank...
