Not only is the food absolutely fresh and delicious, the decor is fresh and clean with shiny teal blue tile.
But the fresh face smiles of the teens eager to serve the customers and eager to please & assist their co-worker...along with adults/managers helping out and overseeing ensuring everything goes smoothly and in the end looking us in the eyes and thanking us. I could feel the excitement of this new beginning they they were all apart of. As I watched the symphony of it all and looked at the men orchestrating I thought about how quickly this new group had come together as a team eager to reach their goal of making a difference at the end of today...making a difference in their community...in our community.
You know that person who loves to entertain, wants their guests to feel welcome and pours love into their food. Well as I reflect that is how it feels. Even those in line were calm, relaxed as we anticipated
In the midst of all the tragedy & trauma may this be a place to refuel... nourish our bodies with healthy homestyle bowls and a place to litterally step inside what appears like we walked off the beach on a tropical vacation to refresh our souls even if just a "mini vacation" from the entrance to back in our vehicle. As for me it's 4 hours later I still feel the refreshment. I had the Veggie Vacay Bowl. I am NOT a tofu girl, but it was so good. I could have asked to switch to chicken.

Read moreI've eaten here several times, usually to-go, but this was my first dine-in experience. It was only after I watched them make the bowls that I decided to leave a review. (Skip to the bottom to see why)
First, all of the food is amazing. The flavor combinations on their bowl creations are top notch, and even the individual items they make for the bowls are delicious. Never loved brussel sprouts more until I started getting them here!
My only issue, going back to making the bowls, is that I tend to eat a lot and opted for (what I thought) the double serving bowls. They're priced about 25% higher, and you appear to be getting twice as much of just about everything except veggies. I guess this is a bit misleading.
Watching my girlfriend's bowl be made, it was a Mahana Fresh concoction, and I watched them just dump rice (maybe 4 spoonfuls) in for a base and pile in the veggies, and protein was a good 3 spoonfuls. Looked like a decent amount of food, and I was excited for my larger portion.
The same person made my bowl and when I opted to create my own with 2 bases, 2 veggies, and 2 proteins, and 2 sauces, I got a single spoon of rice, the kale salad, a smaller amount of brussel sprouts and green beans, and a clearly smaller, single spoon of both proteins. The sauce was a quick back and forth wave with the bottle, to which I requested more, and they happily gave extra. But overall, it didn't look like there was really anything "extra" in my bowl.
All in all, I love the food here and will continue to eat here, but I find their Make-Your-Own "Big Mahana" bowl isn't really worth the extra money, since I didn't feel I was getting anything extra, just a bit...
Read moreGoodness gracious so salty!!
i had already eaten, and i didn't want to order anything with so much sodium anyway, so i just grabbed a few pieces of my husband's bowl. (even he thought it was too salty, and he loves/craves salty things!) "extremely flavorful" is how i might describe it. a whole bowl full of stuff that might be better eaten in moderation. take a look at their nutrition information on their website. the sesame noodles alone (which are made from konjac, just a heads up, just in case you also hate konjac) have 420mg of sodium. add on the cilantro green beans (280mg) and sesame ginger broccoli (430mg) sesame garlic tofu (320mg) and citrus ginger dressing (360mg), you're at 1,490 mg of sodium (the RDA for most people!! in one meal!)
if you're a cilantro hater, i do admit, the beans aren't too soapy, so in case you would have otherwise turned them down, they're doable.
and even with alternative choices, choosing the lowest sodium items, you have the rice (100mg) or coconut rice, which i assume is actual coconut rather than rice? (why else would the protein be 1/3 that of the plain rice? at 20 mg) i'm personally omitting the quinoa and spinach because of my kidney stones, but those are low sodium too, in case you eat those.
then your only other lowest sodium veggie options are the green beans (280mg) and roasted mushrooms (210mg) topped with the tofu (320mg) and instead of adding even more sauce, opting for an avocado add-on (10mg) which still adds up to 920 mg of sodium. 2/3 of a day's allowance. and it's not a huge serving, so if you would be opting to eat it over two meals, you'll probably...
