If it were possible to rate this experience in the negative, it would be done in an instant as “Ms. Hateful Jimmy John’s 2021” definitely earned the score! Our family was traveling through KS tonight (from CO to MO) and stopped in Topeka for gas, restroom, and food (we stopped at this location at 8:35p.m.). All of the lights out front were shut off but we could see someone sitting at a table reading a newspaper, and because Google maps showed the location open until 10:00 we decided to try the drive through. It was indeed open, even if in a very low key (we don’t want customers) kind of way. We placed an order for one kids sandwich meal, a tuna sandwich with extra provolone ONLY. Upon pulling up to the window from the speaker (within 10 seconds) my husband could already see that the sandwich was being made incorrectly (with EVERYTHING on it), so he got the attention of the woman standing inside the window (the one who we’d previously seen sitting in a booth reading the paper) to alert her that the tuna sandwich was supposed to have ONLY cheese. Here’s her response in its entirety (I wish I could accurately express her hateful tone and rudeness here, but there’s no way to adequately do it justice), “well, next time YOU’RE going to HAVE TO be MORE SPECIFIC when YOU’RE placing your order!” No “I’m sorry,” or “we’ll get it fixed right away,” nothing gracious or professional came out of her toothless mouth; instead she felt it was her place to scold the customer for her mistake. It’s a weird thing when a toothless woman is trying very hard to be condescending and put you in your place over a kid’s tuna sandwich. What weird dimension did we just enter into in Topeka? My husband responded back to “Ms. Hateful Jimmy John’s 2021” that he had, in fact, ordered the sandwich as ONLY CHEESE, and usually ONLY CHEESE means you don’t put everything on it. Ms. Hateful apparently didn’t like his answer, because she slammed the window shut and had nothing else to say to him (even though he was still trying to speak with her). Mind you, because we had literally just pulled up from ordering at the speaker, they hadn’t even had time to complete the sandwich. He was trying to do her a favor by catching it then, and letting her know before they made the whole sandwich; it’s not like we drove off with the sandwich and came back, or ever had it in our possession. Ms. Hateful also appeared to be the manager, which is definitely a title much too good for her and her disgusting behavior! She’s hateful, rude, and is as condescending as the day is long! She definitely doesn’t care about the customers, or her representation of this company! Seriously? The customer is wrong (and obviously had to have ordered wrong) when you’re the manager, and you can’t keep an order straight for more than ten seconds? The door was locked, not "stuck", because I have the nasty habit of yanking hard on doors as I've worked places that have sticky doors. The music is to loud, they may have 2 new hires, but they made the gargantuans with jalapeños when that's not even on the sandwich nor were they requested. They put tomatoes on the bread then took them off as they were making the hunters club sandwich which can be very fatal for someone with a tomatoe allergy. There was no where on the app to put that in as a note. I have trained new hires and never have I ever had issues like this with new people. I placed an order for a family that has medical issues i.e. diabetic, allergies, and special diets... this is unexceptional in all ways. The lobby door was locked at 7:00pm, so we had to use the drive thru (saying that because if we would have been in the lobby I could have seen what my sandwich looked like before we hit the highway) and I ordered the Baja. There literally was 2 slices of turkey on it, however each slice was a partial piece, paid for cheese but didn’t get the cheese, said no tomatoes but they put tomatoes on there, there was ONE slice of bacon and a tiny bit of mayo. The bread is so hard you can’t eat it and the staff was rude and it’s very obvious that when you order something from there they are annoyed they have to wait on you and make your food. I am beyond upset that THIS is what I paid $10.00 for and had to deal with rude staff on top of it.
