Update 05/11/2025:

The owner reached out to me by phone shortly after and apologized for the issues. I will give the food another try in a couple weeks but for anyone reading this please be aware that this spot does NOT follow traditional Salvadoran terminology for “revueltas”. Despite the website saying it means Chicharrones, beans, & cheese their version is only Chicharrones and cheese and “mixtas” is all 3.

Increasing to 3-stars for how they handled the situation after and will re-review once I try them out again.

Original Review:

I live part-time in El Salvador and was craving authentic Salvadoran food, so I decided to order pupusas for delivery. I was informed there was a $30 minimum, which is understandable.

I placed an order for several revueltas with jalapeño and a few other items. In any traditional pupusería, revueltas means a combination of chicharrón, beans, and cheese. However, when my order arrived, the pupusas contained no beans.

I called back and spoke with the same gentleman who had taken my order. He insisted that revueltas only include chicharrón and cheese, and that the version with all three ingredients is called mixtas. Anyone familiar with Salvadoran cuisine knows this isn’t accurate, and their own website clearly lists revueltas as chicharrón, beans, and cheese. Mixtas weren’t even listed as an option. He apologized and said the website must be incorrect, and mentioned he would speak to someone about it. However, he ended the call without offering to make things right or provide any kind of resolution, which I found unprofessional. A simple gesture such as correcting the order or offering something for next time would have been appreciated.

As for the food itself, it’s decent but not especially authentic. If I were in El Salvador, I probably wouldn’t order them again. That said, I haven’t tried many other pupusa spots on Long Island, so I can’t speak to how they compare locally.

The pupusas are much larger than usual, and the cheese doesn’t taste like traditional quesillo, which may be difficult to source in New York but would make a big difference in flavor. The chicharrón also felt a bit underrepresented. On the plus side, the curtido and salsa were both solid, and the quesadilla (Salvadoran sweet bread, not the Mexican dish) was actually very good and probably the most authentic item in the order.

The 1-star is mainly due to the service and lack of resolution offered. The food itself may be worth trying but don’t expect anything if...

I am not going to lie, the food is good. But today there was a confusion with the price. Looking at the menu and calculating everything we thought it would be $20 less. But when we went to pay it, it was different than what the menu said. With no receipt to go over it ourselves we called up to go over everything and the female that spoke to us was extremely rude. How dare you speak to us the way you did. That was disgusting!! Clearly we do have money since we almost spent $70 on a few pupusas . Maybe you guys should update your menus that you give out so there no confusion. On top of that, we got a few of them INCORRECT. Good thing we aren’t picky and we ate it. But that wasn’t what we ordered. Over the phone we were not rude just wanted to go over the pricing. You have to do better on the way you speak to people. Very rude.!

Update: After speaking to the boss I gave the place another chance. He was extremely professional and understanding. He corrected my order, and even gave me something on the house. I am extremely glad I gave this place another chance, cause the food is definitely the BOMB 💣 now this is our new favorite spot. Especially when we want some pupusa 🫓.! Thank you for reaching out to me. It shows that you care about...

I have to say from the moment we walked in, the service was nothing short of exceptional. Beginning with the staff, they were incredibly kind, patient, and helpful while we were ordering, their attention to detail made us feel genuinely welcomed. The food we ordered ( Panda Tacos & Chico crunch ) was absolutely amazing it was fresh and flavorful. They clearly take pride in their product and every bite reflected their hard work in brining those finishing touches to their food. What stood out, though, were the owners. Humble, gracious, and friendly. They were completely tuned in to our experience, they catered to our requests without hesitation. You could feel the heart behind everything they do.This family-owned and operated business is truly the epitome of what small business should be — personal, high-quality, and built on genuine hospitality. Can’t...

❗️LONG ISLAND FOODIE SECRET: ANAMELI IN AMITYVILLE 🔥 This little El Salvadoran food joint on Amityville’s Main Street is packing BIG flavor in the form of pupusas, tacos, sandwiches & much more. 🇸🇻 It’s family run with homemade recipes and a powerhouse kitchen of amazing women who are throwing DOWN. ✔️ 📌 The pupusas here are among the best I’ve ever had and they have a whole menu filled with all different types of fillings. The chicharron they make gets ground down and it’s amazing inside, but you can’t go wrong. If you’re not hip on pupusas, they’re a corn flour tortilla, hand crafted, stuffed & grilled. Ugh, I’m obsessed!! 🌮 The taco game here is also banging. They have a pupusa taco, but I gotta say, the PANDA TACOS are insanely good. I got it with chicken. The homemade tortilla and signature pink sauce makes all the difference. 👉 You’ll also find meat plates (loved the carne asada), empanadas, Salvadoran baked goods, quesadillas & banging sandwiches. Homemade is the name of the game here. 🏃‍♂️ RUN, DON’T WALK. Trust me! 📍 Amityville, Long Island, NY #TheGrubfather #LongIsland #Amityville #Foodie #Food #LongIslandNewYork #LongIslandNY #LongIslandFoodie #Amityville #FoodLover

I read about this place on A social media mom’s group and I must say the name of the place is deceiving and this is the definition of a hidden gem I ordered the Pollo Frito, fried chicken, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. This was an extremely generous portion of perfectly seasoned and cooked food. The family that owns the restaurant/bakery was very accommodating and friendly. I also had the chicken empanada but that did not make it home for the picture. 😀 Everything was delicious and the taste so amazing, even the French fries were lightly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I am looking forward to trying much more of their menu. The prices were very reasonable for the portion and there was a lot of love put into this plate.
