So I ordered a chicken salad today and had the most terrible experience with a restaurant I have ever had. I never write reviews for restaurants either because 90% of the time it doesnt warrant a review. But here I am. My salad came without the dressing and the lime and this wasnt the first time my order is missing something so I decided to call and let them know that they are messing up orders. I didnt ask for anything not for another order, refund, something else, nothing... I just wanted to let a manager know that my orders have been getting messed up. The manager on the phone was extremely disrespectful and simply did not care at all, he wanted me to come back to the store so he could show the kitchen the error, but after a long day of work I didnt want to go back I was simply going to eat it as is and let a manager know about it, but he kept going and wouldnt let me speak and went on to say “what do you want me to do about it” and hung up the phone on me. So I decided to go and return the salad because of the disrespect. When I got there I explained I wanted my money back and I let the customers there know they should double check their food. And im glad I did because a lady checked her food and realized that it was poorly made and aed for them to make it again. The manager heard this and came running to the counter to accuse me of yelling when I never did no such thing and then proceeded to call the cops on me... on top of everything he didnt want to give me all my money back and when I told him what I paid for it he tried to accuse the lady at the register for overcharging when they have always charged that.... can you believe that? Because I complained about an order and wanted my money back because the manager was disrespectful, he called the cops on me.... as I was leaving the cops arrived and I actually pulled back in to my parking spot to explain to the cops what happened. The cops appreciated that I came back to talk to them, and after talking to the witnesses they realized that I never yelled, not even cursed at anybody and I approached the situation correctly but it was the manager who was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. His attitude said “I dont care people complain all the time and we simply do not care” I said I am not coming back here ever again and he said “we dont want you eating here so I dont care” that is the service you will get when...
Read moreOut on the island for work and always seeking authentic tacos. This place came up and the photos screamed legit. I went in and there was a mixture of Hispanic families and Hispanic drunk construction workers so it immediately told me that this was a good decision. I ordered 5 chicken, onion, and cilantro tacos and sat down. About 20 minutes later I was called and given a cafeteria tray of my tacos which continued to get me excited for my meal.
Classic taco spot with the rojo and verde salsa offerings I doused my first taco with them and bit in but noticed a soft odd boiled flavor to the meat. When you get grilled chicken there’s a slight blackening or smoke flavor received but, while tender, these had an unfamiliar flavor that I could taste even with the salsa. The tortillas lacked flavor. Some spots you taste the tortilla and it brings you right back to Mexico but these were MEH. Edible but not out of this world because I ordered the most basic taco that you can get.
After finishing my five tacos I went up to pay and the bill confused me. $29.09 for five basic tacos. I paid and as I was walking out I turned back and approached the woman who’d just rung me up and asked for clarification. She explained the pricing and then the owner approached and asked if everything was ok to which I responded with his prices were too much.
I’ve traveled all over the country, lived in nyc, and been throughout Mexico and the world and never paid that much for basic tacos. This just shows a business owner charging excessive amounts for simple dishes and being greedy. Yes, I ate the tacos but for a basic dish exceeding standard pricing, that is not proper business and the catalyst for my one star.
It’s a shame that a local place with people who love the simple food should have to...
Read moreThis is a genuine five-star review.
My lunch was incredible. It really is “authentic” food, that’s not just a restaurant name.
I ordered an al pastor taco, a chicken tamale, a pupusa, fried plantains, and a tamarindo iced beverage.
The staff looked to be one of the most professional crews I’ve ever noticed in a kitchen. Everything was organized and clean when I ordered at the beginning of a lunch rush.
Food takes a little extra time to come out because of the high quality, popularity, and time of day. It was absolutely worth the wait.
My taco was packed full and came with a dark flavorful salsa, as well as a juicy lime wedge and radish chips.
I’ve never had a pupusa before but my coworker assured me it would be delicious and he was correct. Try one! It was meaty and cheesy with an amazing flavor.
Fried plantains came with sour cream. So good. Sweet and tangy with a hint of salt.
Tamarindo iced drink was awesome. It’s lightly sweet with a bit of a sour kick. Loved it. Will go for the large next time.
Haven’t eaten my tamale yet but I was stuffed, so that’s my next thing to look forward to as soon as I post this review.
I paid about $18 for everything. You could definitely order less and still be full but there were so many varied and genuinely authentic items to try that you should absolutely...
