Kotobuki — Restaurant in Town of Babylon

Back again here for Valentine's weekend on a Saturday. Place was packed, food was still as top notch as I always remember it (as described below). This time the wasabi was full strength and perfect. We ordered the same special for two and loved it! Still give this Kotobuki location an excellent rating!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This Babylon location is a favorite place of mine going back many years, although I haven't been here in quite a while because I don't live nearby. We ordered the Sushi Sashimi Special Combo for 2, plus a Fire Island Roll and an Edamame appetizer. The waitress warned us that the special would be more than enough food for two without the extra roll and app, but we knew we were going to take some food home. The special combo also comes with 2 Salads and 2 Miso Soups. Everything was exceptionally good just like I remembered. I always relished the first bite where the food just seems to melt in your mouth with perfection. Both me and my friend had the same reaction, with an audible sound of delight.. ohmmm!! We also ordered a bottle of sake as well. And I love that they serve it with the sliced cucumber to add to your glass, very refreshing touch! My only criticism this time is that the miso soup was a bit too salty, but still very delicious. Both me and my friend also noticed that the wasabi wasn't as strong as we're used to from other places. I don't remember if it was this weaker version of wasabi the last time I was there. Wasabi is the one heat that I really enjoy, so I just kept adding more and more to my soy sauce wondering why I wasn't feeling it!... LOL. Overall my friend and I both give this place an excellent rating. And we definitely will be back again sometime, hopefully soon!! I have been going to this Kotobuki for over ten years. After relocating I decided to meet an old friend there last Thursday. After what was a usually delicious meal we split our check. I noticed in the next two days that I was charged twice for the meal. When I called I had one of the worst most unprofessional conversations that I have had in my life with the assistant manager there, King. Initially I spoke with a gentleman who asked me to call back to speak with the waitress who processed the card wrong so she could explain? I asked him to speak with the manager which was when I had the disheartening conversation. King made no effort to reimburse me the money or apologize. He asked for my other friends phone number so he could charge her her half. He stated that "the boss has the receipts and is unable to release them to reimburse my credit card". When I asked to speak with his boss he refused his name and let me know that I could drive back there for him to give me cash if I wanted but only after he spoke with my friend to ensure the other half of the bill was paid. The bill was $40. For $40 Kotobuki, who we all know does the business, handled this small error on their part the wrong way and now I assure you I will not be returning. This moved into my Top 10 Favorite Dinners I’ve ever had in my life. As soon as my boyfriend and I walked in we were greeted with a welcoming smile. It wasn’t too busy but we also arrived about 30 mins after they open on Sundays. We quickly learned that about an hour into opening, the restaurant started to fill up. This is not an exaggeration, it is the BEST SUSHI I’ve ever had. The sashimi melted in your mouth. Rock shrimp for an app was amazing. I tried a slice of raw octopus, which I was apprehensive about and it wasn’t that bad. The eel was TO DIE FOR. Lychee martini HITS. We ordered the “Caterpillar Remix” roll which was eel, shrimp, tuna, tempura flakes, topped w/ avocado, tobiko, spicy mayo & our sweet sauce concoction chefs kiss Tempura Cheesecake was very good, loved the contrast of warmth from the batter and cold from the cheesecake. My boyfriend loves Green Tea ice cream so he ordered the Fried Green Tea which he enjoyed. I was elated the entire time we were eating. It was my first time there and I’m dying to go back.
