We went to The Brixton on Saturday night, 2/3/18 for the first time and we loved it. So much so that we've already gone back for cocktails after dining at another restaurant nearby. Not knowing much about The Brixton other than from what I had seen on their Instagram account, I was looking forward to trying some of their specialty cocktails and the food. We started out at the bar, where Lahna ordered a vodka cocktail and I ordered a bourbon cocktail. I can't remember the names of the drinks, but they were great because we ordered a few each and we were feeling no pain by the time our table was ready. The bartenders are experienced mixologists and take their craft and their drinks very seriously. I can go for one of those bourbon/honey concoctions right now! Once we got to our table, we were greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable waiter. We've had such horrible wait service at so many of our dining adventures, it was refreshing to get a personable waiter who knew what he was doing and knew the menu completely. The only problem was, I think his shift ended in the middle of our dinner because he started out as our waiter, than towards the end of our meal he was gone and we had a different server. Anyway, we started our with our usual. If there's oysters on the menu, we're ordering them. So we ordered a dozen blue point oysters and they were perfect! Cold, cleanly shucked, all the liquor still in the cup, and served with mignonette for me and cocktail sauce for Lahna. We also shared the poke bowl as an appetizer. It may have been our favorite course of the meal! It was amazing! The tuna was so fresh and the loose Asian flavored grits along with the avocado and pineapple, wow! We could've each eaten a huge bowl of just that. For my main course I ordered the chicken and biscuits. It came out and it looked great. I've had no luck ordering any type of fried chicken dish lately, so I was really looking forward to this dish. Unfortunately, I cut open the chicken and it was still raw in the middle. Same issue I've had with fried chicken from other places recently. So I notified our awesome server who was totally apologetic and he took it back to the kitchen. A few minutes later he returned and continued to apologize and brought us a beautiful plate of shrimp and grits. It was funny because I was debating on the chicken and biscuits or the shrimp and grits as my entree. I have to say, it was probably the best shrimp and grits I've ever had, and I've had it a lot because it is one of my favorite go-to dishes when I dine out. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, the grits were delicious and the addition of the pork made it unbelievable. A new plate of chicken and biscuits made its way back to the table, this time thoroughly cooked and it was really good, but not as good as the shrimp and grits. I'm glad that I got to try both though. All in all, The Brixton is a great place! The bartenders are great and make awesome drinks. The chef is extremely talented and makes incredible food. The place is beautiful, the decor is trendy and the vibe is welcoming. I wish we lived closer to The Brixton because we'd be there a lot more often! Love this place and look forward to our next wonderful...
Read moreI visited this restaurant months ago, back in late June if I remember correctly. Just as the Corona restrictions were changing. A friend and I were looking for a bar, having no luck we saw the beautiful picnic style tables outside in the grass with other customers enjoying drinks and food! We practically ran to a table. The service was prompt and very friendly. We were only looking to have some drinks, but to not waste our waitresses time and table space we ordered food. It took me well over 30 minutes to order, during this time our waitress was patient and attentive. I ordered the sliders, my date ordered the ramen (which is so customizable, it's amazing!). It was an amazing night, we were just so happy to be out in public again. My only complaint was the prices. It was over $100 for 3 Heineken, 3 Jack and Cokes plus the food. I received 2 yummy little sliders for $16, his ramen was the same price. There were no side dishes, fries, nothing. Just 2 tiny (yet delicious) cheese burgers, not even bacon. So, not to complain. Everything was great, especially the service, the bill was just a bit of a shock. It really should have cost half that, especially for run of the mill drinks and the tiny portion. Def recommend by me, just be prepared to spend a bit extra.
*I do wanna edit my review, I don't wanna come off as harsh. This place was great! It really was. I guess I'm just cheap, I really should take into consideration they were even open, plus the added costs of operations to any business. Corona took out most of the work force and increased production costs. So please disregard anything you might precieve as...
Read moreI stopped in one day to see about having my daughter's bridal shower, unfortunately The Brixton was a bit to small for that affair. Fortunately we were hungry, so my husband and I stayed for lunch. The food was so tasty and Lindsey explained everything about the dishes. She was so accommodating. When I got home I couldnt stop talking about the food so when my daughter's Birthday came up this past Wednesday. She wanted to go to The Brixton. I called and spoke to Lindsey and she set aside a block of tables for our party. When we arrived Dominick and Hannah were phenomenal. They attended to our every need and made my daughter feel special with a beautiful dessert platter as she did not want a regular cake. The food was once again delicious and all the new items we tried were equally scrumptious! I have to say though that it is a combination of the friendly staff, tasty food and comfortable ambiance that make this place a place I will return to again and again! Thank you Lindsey, Hannah and Dominick for making my daughter's...
