Ralph's Famous Italian Ices — Restaurant in Town of Babylon

What an amazing place!!! I came in there tonight at 845 asking if they could bring their ices to my daughter's school for her birthday tomorrow. I thought I'd have to buy a bucket and then drop off an ice cream scooper. They told me they don't normally deliver and I didn't expect they would but was taking a chance. My daughter wanted a particular flavor that I couldn't get from the supermarket and they were my only hope and very very last minute. I was willing to accept that it wasn't going to happen. Ally instead asked me for my number and said she would call the owners and get back to me within a hour. Ten minutes later I get a call from Dana F. Not only could they make it happen but they were willing to open early and call my daughter's school to find out the best time to have the ices delivered. I went back to pay and honestly was expecting to pay an arm and a leg for all their help. Instead they gave me discounts because of the amount of ices, they didn't charge a delivery fee either. When I called to thank Dana and tell her how shocked I was that not only were they willing to handle the logistics and I appreciated​ that they were willing to deliver but couldn't believe they still gave me the discounts they gave to customers walking in... She thanked me, me the one who was grateful to them. I thanked a million times and her only response past thank you for your business was the kindest answer "it's about the kids, we as parents would do anything for them! While passing by a few days ago I noticed a sign stating that they offer BOGO soft serve ice cream on Wednesdays, so I decided to check them out.

After ordering two small ice cream cups I was informed that the BOGO deal only applies to their larger sizes. This wasn’t mentioned on the signage. Thankfully the employee didn’t make a big deal about it and remade our two orders in the larger-sized cups. The bill went from $11 to $6.

The strawberry soft serve was gross. It doesn’t taste like ice cream. It’s got a foamy consistency. Maybe it’s not ice cream? I don’t know, but it wasn’t what we expected when we asked for soft serve strawberry ice cream. The chocolate and vanilla tasted like real ice cream and it was good.

Other than the flavor of the strawberry soft serve, the other low point was the lack of personality from the employee who served us. Not a single smile was cracked on this night. Ralph's is a Long Island summer classic for as long as I can remember, and the Lindenhurst location does the name proudly! They have enough flavors of water and cream ices and ice cream that could make your head spin, and they are always adding more. My personal favorites are graham cracker, PB&J, jelly ring, and you can't go wrong with the classics like strawberry or rainbow too. An easy crowd pleaser to bring a bucket along to any BBQ! The girls behind the counter have always been friendly and helpful.
