Horrible experience beginning to end !
The waiter for our table was very short and somewhat rude throughout our entire experience. He seemed to be taking care of the entire rest of the restaurant by himself. Not the hibachi area which seemed like it had 2 or 3 waitresses at the time but the entire outer area of the restaurant. We could see him filling drinks and taking orders while we sat waiting. It didn't appear that any of the other tables were sharing the attention of their servers as we were. As they were all receiving their drinks and food items in a timely manner. It was clear that his attention to the entire restaurant affected not only his service but his attitude. It took at least 30 minutes before we placed our orders. And another ENTIRE HOUR before the chef was at the table. During the duration of this time we waited for our soup and salads which were served about 30 minutes apart from each other. Drinks were only refilled if we could flag our waiter down. The food was almost as bad as the service. The rice was dry everything else tasted very salty for some reason. The worst part was watching an entire table be seated and served before we were. Did I mention we were seated at a table with three screaming toddlers that didn't stop the entire 2hrs we were waiting for dinner. And I can't say that I blame them as we were starving ourselves. We are very disappointed as we were told this was the best hibachi in the area 😕 If they were short staffed we shouldn't have been seated. If the wait was going to be two hours we should have been informed so appetizers could have been ordered or we could have just simply left. We were so exhausted from listening to the hungry kids at our table that we basically just boxed our food to go and left. Which was a huge mistake as the food was even worse 20 minutes later back at home and we just tossed it all. Waste of a...
Read moreRed Sun is now just a menu at the Sokura Home restaurant. It is not the same quality we were used to before the pandemic. The wine was good, the salmon with aspergus was good, the mongolian beef was poor, the fried rice was not fried but was white rice with soy sauce, I have had their side of fried rice many times before- this wasn' it. The aspergus was stalks only no tips, flavorful but unusual. The prices on the menu are not the price charged on the bill. The manager said they raised the price (apparently after we sat down). She offered a discount coupon for next time because changing the charge would be very troublesome. The waiter told us he was not a Red Sun waiter after we asked a question about the menu. The Mongolian beef came with red pepper flakes after requesting none. Service was very slow from the kitchen. The waiter explained the reason the other tables were served faster is because they ordered from Sakura Home menu. Hoping the staff and chef for Red Sun...
Read moreWe were invited to dinner at Red Sun which is behind Sakura Home. Red Sun specializes in Chinese food whereas Sakura is Japanese. Our hosts had a pre-ordered menu which included a seaweed salad and 4 sushi rolls per guest. We also had the West Lake beef soup, which was very good. I also enjoyed the seaweed salad.
Our main meal came on a plate with 3 slices of roast duck, 2 small lamb chops, 2 pipa tofu, 1 stuffed crab claw, 3 slices of beef brisket and 2 fried shrimp dumplings. The service was so slow, that the food got cold. The asparagus spears was served a few minutes later on a separate plate. There was nothing memorable nor special among these 7 dishes.
Our server came to our table to take our drink order. Then, we had to wait for her to serve the main course to order more drinks, and finally, we had to wait again for her to serve dessert to ask her to refill our...
