EDIT: I'd give this 4.5 * now... After seeing the company respond wanting to know how to make it a 5 star... I'd say I'm 85/15 likely to return :) People like me like when businesses care about their customers. I'd want to return on principle now. I had the Kulminator the first time and it was probably one of the most awesome grilled cheeses I've had to date, and the fries are pretty great.
Burnt coffee, a little over cooked food & under seasoned food can be overlooked many times compared to customer service. I don't think heads should roll or anything like that, but sometimes people newer to the service industry need to be reminded that hey, you work with actual people, these people pay you, and they'll keep coming back if you make them feel like they had a great time here. Make sure you don't marginalize them, treating them like actual people and eye contact isn't a bad thing, even if only for a few minutes. And when you say "Have a good day" when they leave, look up when you say it. This is how they become great at what they do, practice. ;-)
Original post: Walk in, tell the hostess 2. She says inside or outside? I say inside. She says it will be 10 minutes and takes my cell number and name. We wait in front of her. A couple walks in and says 2, she has someone take them to seat them. Then... I get a text message, saying our seat is ready, even though I'm standing less than 3 feet in front of her, like I have been the entire time, but she'd have to lift her head and acknowledge that we're actual people and that seems to take too much effort. She even thanked us for coming when we left, I assume it was us she was talking to, because we were leaving, but she was looking at the girl next to her that she was conversing with. My first time here was pretty great, this time when i bring the spouse, kind of sucked, at least our server was good though. Pulled pork was bland, medium burger was well done, poutine was good, coffee tasted burnt, not normal burnt taste, but burnt burnt taste. Hostess was too busy to acknowledge us as people, server/waiter was great. Wasn't crowded enough to imply the seating wait was necessary. 50/50...
Read moreI'm really not sure why we waited so long to go back to Cafe Hollander as it was even better than I had remembered. We had visited the Mequon and Wauwatosa locations before and have never been disappointed. This was our first dinner at their Brookfield location at the Corners. It was a beautiful early Friday evening on July 9th when we stopped by to give this location a try. Cafe Hollander Brookfield, like their other locations, has a modern European gastropub vibe. The restaurant is very big with multiple floors and an AMAZING rooftop outdoor seating area. There were a lot of customers dining but, the place is so big and so well staffed it didn't seem crowded or overly busy. We were greeted and seated promptly and courteously. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Aside from the food, Cafe Hollander has an extensive beer selection with an emphasis on Belgian beers. What was a really nice touch was that each beer I ordered came with a specific glass made for that beer by the brewery - it was cool to drink each beer out of glassware that was designed with the best way to enjoy the beer in mind. We started our meal with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts. This brussel sprout appetizer easily makes it into the top five list of best foods I've had this year - yes, it is that good. The sprouts are crispy fried and seasoned with an amazing combination of parmesan cheese, pickled peppadew peppers and spicy pepitas. If you're stopping at Cafe Hollander, this is a must-order appetizer. For dinner we had the Big Smokey Burger (nice portion size, gooey smoked Gouda - bacon & avocado with a little kick from the jalapeno BBQ sauce - a seriously good burger) & the Bacon Avocado Chicken Wrap (again, a good portion size with great flavor from the blackened garlic ranch aioli) - crispy well seasoned fries with both. Overall, a spectacular venue and drinking / eating experience - we won't wait as long as we did to return and we'll definitely be back to explore more of the beer and food menus. Wish I could give more...
Read morenever been here before. drove from Chicago to try the food here...we were actually at another restaurant waiting for a table for over half hour when we decided to come here instead. Told there was no wait, and we were seated immediately upstairs. the place is huge - filled with all kinds of interesting decor and old pictures of Europe and 50s-70s style advertising plastered on the walls. we ordered the pretzel battered cheese curds, they just tasted like regular battered cheese curds maybe we were given the wrong stuff I don't know but they were good anyways. We were so thirsty and were kept entertained with endless refills of coke and diet as we waited for our meal. we had the chopped chicken salad along with the salmon salad and our third member got the burger, I can't remember the name of it (there's actually an artistic painting of it in the parking garage), without bacon. the burger came with fries which we all shared and they were absolutely fantastic. they were a little crunchy and stayed warm which was just perfect. these are the best fries I've ever had I think. the cost wasn't bad but being in the evening at this time of year the sun was shining through all of the beautiful windows right into my face. I suggest sitting downstairs or on the east side of the restaurant if you go in the evenings and don't like angled light. the food was very good, but probably 10% more than I think it should be as far as cost. it's still worth it. our waiter Josh was very attentive and came back many times. Sat Oct 16 2021. Total bill $65ish with 3 meals, appetizer, large coke, large apple juice. Thank you Josh and crew!...
